Rather than just wait till they cam

    When?
    4th - 13th August

    Current List of Irish Qualifiers

    Thomas Barr (400m hurdles)
    Brian Gregan (400m)
    Ciara Mageean (800m)
    Mark English (800m)
    Fionnuala McCormack (10,000m)
    Mick Clohisey (Marathon)
    Paul Pollock (Marathon)
    Sean Hehir (Marathon)
    Claire McCarthy (Marathon)
    Alex Wright (50km walk)
    Brendan Boyce (50km walk)
    Robert Heffernan (50km walk)

Will try do a bit around season performances and timetables when I get a chance but figured it might be worth generating a bit of interest in build up.

Any others with a chance of making the cut off in the next week?

I'm heading over to watch some of the events, marathon (which is free), have tickets for the Monday evening and hopefully another session if I can come across reasonably priced tickets for 4.

Absolutely zero chance of anyone else making it I'm afraid.

Walk and Marathon have soft qualification standards so always going to have big team there, but only 5 inside the stadium is very low.

Keep an eye on Sinead Diver going for Australia in the marathon.

How does the numbers compare to other similar competitions?

Excluding unused relay subs we had the following in past champs competing on the track or in the field:

    Osaka 2007: 10
    Berlin 2009: 10
    Daegu 2011: 13
    Moscow 2013: 6
    Beijing 2015: 11

    5 is very low.

Should be noted the irregardless of times, two women do have qualification by virtue of top 10 performances in a WMM (Berlin) from last year

No she's not. She's running Berlin in September and doing 10000m at Worlds.

    Must be a U-turn so.

Be fascinating to see who will win between her and Diver in London so.

I plan to watch the marathons around the Tower of London near the Tower Hill station, there's a few coffee shops etc around there and then get up a close to the finish at Tower Bridge as it allowed.

Is there a link to the quota rankings anywhere? Be interesting to see how far off she is from it.

Fantastic run. 200m is her best event.

Looks as though she is still off the standard by a bit.

Currently 8 slots available with Maroussia Pare (FRA) sitting in the last Q place with 23.26 however this could reduce even further as I am sure there will be a few last min attempts over the weekend across the world.

Given that his application went in just before the IAAF put in the transfer freeze chances of that being pushed through in next 3 days are highly unlikely.

Anyone fancy a 10k gallop on the Sunday morning?

Got tickets for the Thursday night expecting a showdown between Bolt and Van Niekerk in the 200m but Bolt has decided not to run. Big letdown.
