Yep - he never seemed to get going

Has he been injured this year?

    Hamstring tear I believe.

Allyson Felix up now... always thought she has the sweetest running action of any female athlete

    Felix so easy.

Moving the medal ceremony is laughable. Denying a sendoff to one of the greatest athletes because a multiple doper might be booed.

Life bans or forget about it.
Moving it to prevent embarrassing IAAF more than to protect Gatlin from any booing. Gets it out of the way before other countries pick up the TV feed at 7pm?

Great running by Callum Hawkins, in with a shout for bronze medal maybe.

PB for Callum Hawkins in fourth.

  • Registered Users Posts: 882 ✭✭✭Caprica

Very exciting Marathon. Very impressive run by Kirui, he looked very easy. Ethiopia holding of Tanzania for the silver. Fantastic running by Hawkins for fourth, a very strong finish, two great championship runs for him.

Great to see Kawauchi make the Top 10, a strong finish for 9th, once again no doubting his commitment, 110% given. Mick Clohisey on verge of Top 20, not finished yet? 21st at 40k

  • Registered Users Posts: 882 ✭✭✭Caprica

Mick is over the line in 2.16.25, 22nd in a SB. A PB for Hawkins and Meucci. Not the easiest of courses, seemed a bit twisty and turny and looked as it heated up as the race went on

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,065 ✭✭✭dublin runner

Great racing and atmosphere here. A crackin' place to spectate but it looks a nightmare to run. Some seriously dicey turns!!

That's a damn fine result for Clohissey.  Hopefully, that eradicates the disappointment of not being able to give it his all in Rio.  Any news on Hehir?

By the way, I'd love to be able to watch Eurosport or BBC here in the US. It's great to have any coverage at all, but the commentary and adverts every 2 minutes on NBC are massively frustrating.

Hehir was 73rd when I last checked, looks to be struggling badly.

You should be able to watch bbc here.

Love the way there's never any doping chat on the football forum anytime Spain take to the field. #cluelessclowns

You can't compare doping in athletics with soccer. The potential gains in soccer are nowhere near comparable. Doping won't help to curl the ball into the top corner. Yes it might help in extra time or at the end of a long season but nowhere near as much an effect.

Moving the medal ceremony is laughable. Denying a sendoff to one of the greatest athletes because a multiple doper might be booed.

The level of complete ignorance in this post.

Yeh because Barcelona and Real Madrid associated themselves with Dr Fuentes for pure sh1ts and giggles. I'll give you a bucket and spade if your head is that far buried.

Very knowledgeable crowd who booed Gatlin, cheering Montsho.

    You stay classy London.

Chivito, you are letting your inner "Kevin Myers" out there.

Gatlin has been banned twice with the second time for testosterone.

He should not be competing full stop.

Montsho has been banned once for methylhexaneamine.

Clearly the crowd are considerably more knowledgeable than you!!!!!!!!

As long as we maintain that drug cheats should be banned for life then it is irrelevant that one was done twice and the other just once. They both should be out of the sport, they both should be booed.

A bit in shock that Eurosport just ended their session at 2pm to put on football.

You are now talking nonsense to try and back up your previous nonsense.

A person who comes back from a ban and then knowingly cheats and gets banned a second time is considerably worse than the person who has been banned once and learned their lesson.

Your previous comments were based on your inner prejudice and the validity of them totally debunked by the facts.

Not that surprising, there's literally nothing else on apart from the women's marathon, 2 and a half hours is a lot of air-time to be given to a single race. It's poor scheduling from IAAF tbh, should have had the women's marathon on during one of the other morning sessions. Men's race was warm, and they started at 10, likely to be even warmer for the women.

Although, to be fair, logistically speaking, closing the roads for a few extra hours on a single day is easier than having two race-days

90‰ of the crowd at least only know what the stadium announcer told them 2 seconds before about all of the people taking part. Someone gets called out as having won X in whatever year they get a cheer.

If the announcer said they had a two year ban or whatever since they won championship Y then they would get booed. Gatlin got booed because he's the next highest profile person taking part in the championships for the audience after Bolt and Mo. After those three it's all just a bunch of mostly unknown people. The Jamaican kit will be more well recognised than Blake.

I suggest you read up a bit on Gatlin's first ban. There's a reason he's still in the sport after 2 bans. Others have got life for second offence.

Anyway, not bothered wasting time with you or this forum really. Don't have much time for it at the moment.

    All the best.

This does not look particularly wise of Dixon to be leading the marathon 45 mins into the race when there are at least 10 runners that are 5 minutes or more faster than her.

All of these proven cheats should be booed....Gatlin winning last night was brutal given his history. The authorities are a disgrace to have even given him the opportunity.
