Just goes to show how ridiculous the 800m WR is. I guess Semyena coul take it down but for everyone else it is still well out of reach, even 35 years later.

I reckon Semanya takes it if she had to run at 100% for the whole race

And the WR holder also had talk about her gender..

Must be 30 + years old that record..

Just checked..1983. Oldest WR in track athletics..

Tbf, Kratochvilova was either doped to the gills, or a man, or both.

Delighted to hear the end of Foster. Thought it would never happen.

Pretty tame as regards wow performances

Much prefer great races to really fast times. some great races in these championships, mens 5000, 10000, womens 1500, 3k steeplchase, 100m hurdles, not to mention the 2 relays last night.

I thought he cut him off and was lucky to keep his medal.

Delighted for Semenya, a right **** you to the IAAF and the ***** around the world who spend their time subjecting her to abuse and taunts, including plenty on here.

Now that is the biggest upset of these champs!!

Athletics is the only sport with such diversity among the medal winners, team sports don't have it in the same way because technical preparation prevails over individual skills. Medals tonight for Trinidad and Tobago, Syria, Burundi, etc.

Tbf, she shouldn't be allowed race. Whatever you want to say about her gender, biologically she's got a giant advantage over natural women. Should other women be allowed to take testosterone to put them on an equal footing?

Thats because there are more disciplines, a multitude of different events. If there was just one discipline say the 10,000m there wouldn't be such diversity.

    In major championships over the last 5 years from a maximum 12 medals 5 different countries have medalled;

    GB,
    Kenya,
    Ethiopia,
    Ugandan,
    USA

Sad to see Usain Bolt making his final goodbye, Champions come and go but I don't think Athletics will ever see anyone like him again.
