Ethiopians are running sensibly, hopefully they have enough left for a long finish.

The Africans can't shake Mo Farah off. At least they are giving it a go

    That was well earned.

That was brilliant, even with the BBC commentary...

    Fantastic Race!

They appeared to be trying to rough him up on last lap.

Whatever anyone is on they are all on it so level playing field.
That was a classic race, the young lads ran the arse off him and he kept surging.
Pity more of his races weren't run like that but it is great to go out like that.

Are RTE showing any of these championships? What are we paying for? BBC are making even Bolt tough to watch with all the fawning

Can't remember a better Championships distance race.

  • Registered Users Posts: 179 ✭✭wildgreen

He had fantastic balance to stay on his feet early on in the last lap. Seven under 27 minutes.

Foster seemed a little irritated with Cram's comments there...

    Rightly so..

    FFS, Paula...have a strepsil..

Absolutely cracking race to be fair that shows there is still hope for the 10000m. Also looks like the rise of Joshua Cheptegei as the possible next great on the track. He's got some serious grit and strength.

The BBC keep showing lists of athletes with the most World Championship Gold Medals ... not taking anything away from Mo but it's unfair to those who were competing when these Championships took place every 4 years (or those who competed before 1983)

Bbc commentators, presenters and pundits are puke tv to watch.

It's been that way for years, but at least they still have the rights to live coverage.

Jam packed crowd. Putting the men's 10000m on the first night was a great move. Sets the tone for the rest of the championships and builds momentum. We'll be looking at full houses or near full houses every single night.
Poor run from Ciara. Did a short piece here. Won't be doing much Running Review stuff as will be busy with other stuff, but have a bit of time today and tomorrow morning.

Was the RTE commentary in the Michelle Smith/De Bruin (remember her?) era any different? Any national broadcaster is going to go OTT for their own competitors.

Eh Mo is from Somalia so regardless of the OTT pandering Brendan Foster and the likes does over him he NEVER is going to be from Great Britain. We unfortunately can never deny the bold Michelle Smith.

Not really true, Farah is British by birthright. In fact, his father is British by Birthright as he was born in London. Farah moved to Britain when he was 8 so this isn't one of those alligence things, he's as British as he is Somalian.

Doesn't matter to Foster. He went OTT with Geb and Bekele as well.

Okay; let me rephrase that. He was representing Great Britain. Is that okay?

Agreed they were as bad or worse. That still doesn't make it okay.

That was an awesome night in the stadium, have a sore throat from all the shouting though. Same again Saturday next week please with another night of Bolt and Mo.

Really disappointed for Mageean. She's one of my favourite ever Irish athletes and it hurts to see her perform like that when there seem to be no logical reasons for it. Would have been nice to see some analysis on RTE to figure out what went wrong, particularly some input from Jerry. Where does she go from here? Just hope she can pick up the pieces, she's clearly way better than that.

Agreed. Two wrongs don't make a right. I just don't think either of them were "wrong", actually. Nothing wrong with backing your own, in my opinion.

    Not when it's OTT imho.
