Irish people moaning about British TV coverage. Ridiculous. How about watching it on an Irish TV channel instead. Oh wait....

Fastest 10,000 in 3 years. Had to watch it on the phone as there was a really important Sunderland game with an empty stadium on in the pub :)

No one, I don't think, has any issues with the BBC focusing on British athletes, of course they will. It's the highly nationalistic, jingoistic, Brexit-tier, unpartial punditry that makes some people struggle to enjoy the coverage.

And of course it sucks that RTE won't cover it, but I find that at least with most Irish coverage they are not afraid to criticise the athletes. At least Tony Monticello, Jess Ennis's old coach is there and seems to have refused the GB sunglasses that all the other BBC pundits are wearing. Refreshing to hear an original voice.

They are catering to their own people. I don't think Irish people living in Ireland get a say in how a UK television network conducts its business.

Eurosport are better though. Go with that if possible.

We are fairly painful ourselves. Euro 2016 football anyone?

They are representing a country, they have the national anthem of the country played when they win. It's nationalistic by default. And any national broadcaster is going to focus on their athletes and get more enthused by their performances when they do well. Try watching Australian or US coverage. The part of your post about brexit is just silly.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

I don't why we can't comment on it, just because we are not British. I'm on Eurosport by the way, I'll even take the ads over Gabby, Colin and Denise. :)

If that's how you're going to respond I'm not even going to bother. It's the same around here every time there is a major championship.

No moral high ground for you I'm afraid when you are going on about brexit.

400 men's heats start at 1045. BBC sport app on App Store has a great schedule for these championships.

Can we get back to talking about what's actually on. The heptathletes!

They do give quite a bit of attention to the Irish athletes. In the 400m hurdles final in Rio the poor winner hardly got a look in with all their talk about Thomas Barr. Even after the race was over!

No Eurosport here, so in front of BBC2 waiting for the 400m heats.

*Yes I know it was mostly because the UK had no-one in that final

Before 10 k final several athletes were introduced, but not all...how is it decided who gets crowd introduced?

Kerley showboating in 400 heat, that's a first for me!

We don't pay a licence fee to the BBC. Our opinions are irrelevant.

Yeh Eurosport are the way to go. Far better commentary.

That was a great 10,000. Brilliant racing. Delighted for Mo to win in a field that threw everything at him.

    2nd, 4th and 5th all ran pbs. 3rd ran a sb

Greegan did well there to qualify, well done indeed !

    Jesus, Gregan did it!

But Steven Gardiner looked like he was out for a parkrun. :D

At one point he looked to be 6th or 7th, but kept his form well and eased into third

They would be announcing names forever otherwise. Whilst there yesterday during the 100m preliminaries the announcer said they would introduce the two favourites for the heat and the lowest ranked who would otherwise never get a shout out. They changed the call outs slightly for the next round and it tended to just be the top three ranked, or a GB athlete.

"I wouldn’t say I’m a morning person, but I got out and did it.”
Big performance by Brian Gregan to advance.

    True..

I understand the time issue. Was asking how they decide who they introduce..

    Thanks for the info.
