Galway Races accommodation?

Anyone have any idea of where four people could get accomodation for one night during race week. The budget would be €100 per person and we'd be willing to camp or stay in a hostel or apartment. Anywhere without a curfew that's in Galway city centre and within a 20 minute drive would be perfect.

There were B&B places in Oranmore as of yesterday. A bit out of town, but a taxi will take you.

In the city centre and within a 20 min drive of where? The racecourse or the city?

Corrib Village might be a good fit.

20 minutes from the city, so that the taxi home wouldn't cost too much

Try airbnb. There are places available. You can get a house in Newcastle for 350 on the Friday night. Better than camping.

Few of us Booked Corrib Village this evening for 40 euro for a night so cheao enough.

Whats best way to get out to the track from Corrib?

It will take an hour or more to walk it from Village to Racecourse, but buses will probably take an hour too.
Traffic before and after the races is mayhem every day.

If the weather is dry and you don't have to accommodate heels... walk through NUIG and over the bridge by the Cathedral then get one of the races shuttle buses from Eyre Square. Or get a taxi into town earlier before the rush and hop onto the bus after a while. The shuttle buses are by far the fastest way to get to/from the race track from town (excl. helicopter).

Or if there are 4 of you it might be worth getting a taxi. Try to pre-book, they will be difficult to get on the busy days (Wed/Thur/Fri). I recommend getting out there early, traffic can ground to a standstill just before the first few races, especially if the weather is wet.

As long as you give at least an hour and a half before the first race the shuttle bus is best. Earlier the better though. Could always have a drink out there beforehand anyway.

AFAIK know there is a free shuttle bus from Corrib Village into town and back.
