Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi Guys

Wondering if anyone knows the owner is of the land north of Park West Train Station?

Rumours years back was that a shopping centre was moving in there but that seems to have fallen apart.

There is currently a large piece of wast land there with no plans that i know of and has the potential for a good development.

Does anyone know anything about it?

    Cheers

    Pete

My first suspicion would be one of the councils own it. you can enquire on https://www.landdirect.ie/ for a few euros.

I can't see a shopping centre being permitted or viable.

Are you confusing the shopping centre with Adamstown, where a shopping centre is meant to go between the station and the office block? https://binged.it/2tfkXu7

    Thanks Victor.
I double checked and no its not the Adamstown one.

I will have a look at the land direct site.

Pity there isnt something done with it, its just waste land, not even a park and with the train station right beside it, could be potential.

The land immediately north of Park West Railway Station is owned by Dublin City Council. There were plans to develop it as residential and I think a tender process took place but like most construction project planned about a decade ago, it fell through. The shopping centre was planned for the Harcourt lands around around the hotel.

My understanding of the plot of land is that a local group of young people have been running a campaign to have the area developed into a dedicated quad bike/ scrambler course that would provide an opportunity for other young locals to use them in a safer way than at present.

Permission hadn't been granted last time I heard, but the campaign is still ongoing.

They used it for scramblers and burning out cars for years, DCC have built embankments and fences to prevent access, I can't see them rowing back on that.

Well I dont think that will be happening anyway. DCC will use the land for something else. I see it being used for some Brexit related company moves over the next few years. The surrounding area is too built up with offices and houses for the noise of bikes everyday.
