The French handling is very slick. Early signs are ominous.

    Vital tackle from Cronin there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Cracker of a kick from Stapleton there. More like what you'd expect from an intercounty footballer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,171 ✭✭✭DellyBelly

God you'd expect an under 12 to kick that penalty. That was a let off

5 metres short from 35, brutal

    Try France

France look much slicker and more powerful. Of course giving away penalty after penalty doesn't help either.

Kicking is the one area that is very weak in the women's game. An outcome like that is not unusual.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

France are looking very smooth and slick in attack but Irish open field defence is very poor. Some really weak efforts and being stepped far too easily without putting a finger on the carrier.

Why is that. I've seen 14 year old boys kick better than what I've seen so far. Is the ball heavier?

Superb rugby from France in fairness. The handling is outstanding and offloads are outstanding

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,468 ✭✭✭Ectoplasm

This could be painful watching. 14 minutes and 14 points scored by France

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,171 ✭✭✭DellyBelly

What's the equivalent of men v boys?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,647 ✭✭✭caviardreams

That was a great kick there by Izar in fairness

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Jenny Murphy is absolutely destroying people in the tackle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,190 ✭✭✭munsterlegend

This ref looks like a lad intent on showing he is not a hometown ref. Our only hope is making ground in mauls and getting penalties.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,480 ✭✭✭robbiezero

    Exhibition stuff in fairness.

France are in a different league to us. Probably just as well this is the end as England or all blacks would not be pleasant.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Excellent try for France after Ireland get nothing from their first sustained period in French territory.

We're miles off them in open play. Their ability to move the ball and move the ball on off the shoulder to support lines is impressive. This could get ugly now.

I presume the French ladies have been playing 7s for years. Easy to see the Irish girls haven't until recent years. The French look in great physical condition.

Could be 60 points by the end. France look different class. Irelands only weapon completely nullified.

Doubt the influence of 7s rugby is having any impact here. Every Frecnch player is very comfortable with ball in hand.

Stapleton is playing really well but the traffic is all one way

Unbelievable stuff from France. A pleasure to watch. Think we should adopt them for the rest of the tournament.

Interesting lineout defence from France. For all us Monday morning quarter backs, what would you do to combat it?

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

Irelands defensive system is killing them. And has been an issue all tournament. Drifting across too much and offering up soft shoulders across the line. It's been the case in the other games too.

Going forward there's lots of effort for little return.

Better from Ireland but can't help but think France are just taking a bit of a breather.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

    Decisive. I like it.

If we had any pace, quick ball off the top and move the point of attack. In general, scrum half taking an age to get the ball away.

The scrum half is woeful. I'd nearly have time to travel up from my seat at home to defend.

I will also add our handling skills are way behind the French but that's not surprising.

Peat all over the place in the scrum. Almost 90 degrees before the ball even goes in.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

We've no clue what to do with the ball.

shame to see host nation not progress, tierney sling your hook

Kinda wish the lads would wear those streamers in their Hair. Bealham would be a beautiful sight with a bit of green white and gold in his ringlets.

I had to laugh with scrum half took a quick tap penalty. Our only chance is a driving maul.

just one score girls. lets right the ship

Pity we can't do something more when we get Possession.

I was under the impression that tierney was well regarded and had done a good job.

Do ppl think it's curtains for him now?

True they are trying hard. France just too strong in attack and defence.

Blood, sweet and not quite tears from Ireland you can't fault their effort. The management have a lot to answer for sending out such a disorganised team.

    Shades of France 2011 here.

It's not harsh at all. It's just an accurate reflection of the game.

Its spot on. We have hardly made a line break in this tournament yet. It was worrying that the management were still trying things like Molloy at 8 and Fitzpatrick to the second row in the world cup.

Coach doesn't have a clue . He's playing rugby from 20 years ago . He just took off Jenny Murphy best Irish player by a MILE.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,817 ✭✭✭Tigerandahalf

Incredibly physical game. Great heart from Ireland but the French have been excellent defensively.

The club scene isn't strong enough in Ireland yet. A lot of Gaelic players have made the transition.

I am sure a lot of Irish girls will be turning up to their local clubs after this tournament.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,647 ✭✭✭caviardreams

Certainly could not question the Irish players in terms of effort, determination or intensity. Feel for them :(

You can't take this game in isolation. Ireland had issues against Japan and Australia. Ironically this is probably Ireland's best performance of the tournament
