She bounced back fairly quickly afterwards and had some good wins earlier in the year including when she destroyed the field at le tour.

Of course, but surely yesterday was her biggest win of the year/since Rio, or would you refute that? It seemed to mean a lot to her. She is a world champion now and she was not one earlier in the year.

Roche ahead of EBH at the moment. That is some achievement, given that EBH would be well up for this in his home country.

Roche is creeping up the leaderboard at every intermediate time check so far...

EBH will be saving himself for the road race on sunday.

Nico sticks to the TT bike for the last climb. About 30 seconds down on the leader through the 5th intermediate. Should be able to have a good go at the climb.

He's not really. It is only because fewer riders have passed the later time checks. I reckon he will come 20th to 25th.

And as I say that, he smashes up the climb. Top 15 is a possible! Yay.

Maybe you're right, but I really doubt that to be the case.

They've rejigged the bike change procedure. The early starters were having to come to a complete stop and then clip in before they were pushed off. Now its more of a typical bike change you see in an World Tour race.

Sky riders setting the best early times.

Nico had a great ride - just finished in a current third place. Gained time back on the climb.

Glad Nico is finished. If I had to listen to this tool on BBC say "Nickelo" one more time..
Solid ride though. Boasson Hagen screaming along so far.

Watching the odd bit on the sly on my phone, what struck me was the amazing atmosphere, really great crowd and venue.

Bodnar was 1'55" behind fastest time at Inter #1.
    WTF?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,245 ✭✭✭check_six

How is the swap bikes vs no swap working out? Is Froome switching bikes? Will he have to switch the battery as well... for his power meter read out?

Roche guaranteed top 15, currently 6th with 10 left on road and Bodnar way down

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,425 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

Bodnar, who had been passed by Roglic, has now passed him back out!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,644 ✭✭✭D9Male

This rain will help Roche's finishing position.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,425 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

We've seen very little of Zakarin on TV... and he's doing very well

Jaysus, Froome 's average enough performance so far is killing Kirby - he is barely managing to cover it up. Wait till you see, he'll shed tears yet.....
