Katie clearly won three rounds, Persoon clearly won three rounds and there were four that were tight.
I think a draw would have been fair. People calling it a robbery are going way ott.

Robbery of the highest order, Belgian girl far more aggressive and dominant.

Boxing is rigged but Joe blogs doesn't care.
Mammy and daddy will see on the news taylor won all the belts and sure the whole country will be delighted for her and all the Irish in America will keep buying her fights and she'll remain undefeated until hearne has another golden goose to cash in.
Boxing is so predictable. Good scrap. Feel bad for the Belgian.
Of course the taylor nut huggers won't admit she got battered cause she's ireland best sportsperson. LOL

Hearn practically guaranteeing a rematch on BBC saying if there is any question over the result Taylor will want a rematch.

    Hahahahahahaha.....
Katie should have lost that very tight decision but your comment is braindead :pac:

It was close but not so close that I couldn't determine who finished the fight ahead. I had Persoon ahead at the finish. As did the pundits ringside. Well done Katie but this is bitter sweet.

Sounded like the Rocky movie listening to it on the radio. I'd pay to see a rematch and I never expected I'd feel that way about a women's boxing bout.

Its hard to watch I think, defence technique is very poor. The first girl who comes along who can really hit hard will make things very ugly for some of these girls, Katie included.

Both girls shipped alot of punches. Pro boxing is very different to the amateurs.

The complete clash of styles can have judges marking it different ways. Certainly, Persoon could have won it narrowly on another day but that's boxing for you. It was a very close fight.

Women boxing is struggling for credibility and this did it no favours.

Absolutely disgusting decision that what's fu5ks boxing. She had the head beat off her.
It was close I had it 6-4 for persson. Thant was Katie real wakeup to pro boxing.

C'est la vie. Many pundits had Taylor ahead in the fight she lost at the Olympics in in Rio 2016. If a fight is close or very close, there's always a big risk the scoring will go against you.

When she wants to she can. There was a couple of rounds in there where Taylor absolutely embarrassed Persoon. Persoon was just relentless in coming forward.

have to agree with this, if Katie had kept using her footwork and landing that hook and jab she would have cruised. No point in getting in a brawl with a brawler when you have the skills to avoid it.

In the latter rounds yes, Katie was out on her feet. But the early rounds saw Katie through. Some fight. Those 2 women are as tough as nails.

But it wasn't close 6 4 against Taylor

lads Katie always fights this way. It wasnt under par. Longer fights against pressure fighters will make her look average unfortunately.

She fights one way, theres very little variation or thought process. She gets into range and unloads quick flurries and gets out, often eating punches in the process. Rinse and repeat.

She shouldnt move up she will get stopped

Well she lost the 2nd clearly

I had Katie winning that fight by 4 rounds. Don’t let the sky commentary team make you think any different. She was the better fighter

The Sky team were fully on her side until the second half of the fight when Persoon was edging rounds and they saw how it was going.

Like **** he'll sign off on that rematch :D

Standing straight up in the firing line after landing and then bullied like a child on the inside and in the clinch. She was lucky to hear the final bell, out on her feet.

Serious stamina and chin on Persoon, reminded me of Margarito v Cotto I the way she was walking through everything Katie landed on her.

    Does she though?

Even as an amateur she suffered some scares with often crude pressure fighters.

Ive yet to see a flawless pro performance from her where she controls the ring and uses a variation of punches.

I think people are ignoring the very good work Taylor put in in the early rounds.

She may well have 'lost' the fight overall certainly and she won't be happy with that performance. But we could just as easily have been talking about a scenario tonight where the Sky pundits all convinced themselves Taylor won narrowly and then the decision goes to Persoon. Once you have a very close fight, the result can become a bit of a lottery.
