When does VAT number go live ?

Hey all,

So just got my vat number after registering new ltd company.

I was trying to purchase an item from england , but when i put in my VAT number for vat exemption it says its invalid !
Anyone know how or when this gets updated or do i have to contact revenue , or other ??

It may be valid in Ireland, but needs to propagate internationally.

I don't know how long that will take.

Check that the number is listed as active in the EU before attempting again. The link is: http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/?locale=en

In my experience it is normally active in about 2 days.

Are you putting "IE" at the start of the number?

At first i wasnt , then done some searching online and figured i needed the IE .

But even with that it still doesnt work !
Wait a few days and hopefully it should work.
