Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

GOT - touring the sites in Northern Ireland

Not sure if this is the appropriate thread, but I was wondering do any GOT fans know what the best sites and places to visit would be?

I'd like to do something away from an official tour, as I don't really want to be stuck on a coach with a load of tourists.

I know Winterfell Castle & Demesne is one place, plus of course the dark hedges. Any other locations, or tips on nice places to stay etc? (we're going to tie in a visit to the Giant's Causeway as well).

    Thanks for your help!

There were doors made from the trees that fell in the dark hedges and they have been installed in various pubs around northern ireland. Tourism Ireland have the locations on their website as well as all the sites of interest. Best place to start planning imo. And of course visiting ten pubs is never a bad idea. ;)

Edit: Just to add that two of the trees that were brought down by storm gertrude were used and the doors are absolute works of art based on each episode of season 6.

Ballintoy Harbour is another place. It's where Theon arrives on the Iron Islands when he meets his sister. Its not too far away from the Giants Causeway.

My girlfriend and I made a day out of this last year, got a good few filming locations done in a single day, some much better than others.

The Dark Hedges is definitely one of the better locations, along with Ballintoy Harbour. Downhill Beach (Dragonstone) is another good one. We just googled the filming locations and started driving, there's plenty to see along the away and the roads are often amazing.
