    Insurance on EV was much cheaper for me (€350 in Jan 2017) so I'd take that article with a pinch of salt. Most journalism around EV's is just rubbish.

    The right comparison world be insurance premium for an e-golf against some other golf. Or Leaf vs. Pulsar. Or Model S against Mercedes S500.

    The only reasons I can think of is that as EV gains wider acceptance and a wider selection of society is driving them the risk profile changes or the fear of putting quick accellerating cars into the general motoring population will lead to more accidents. Maybe they are at a slightly higher risk of being stolen (I know a few leafs were taken around Dublin/Kildare recently)?

    Its interesting though that the comments below do not reflect the article - the telegraph may has its own agenda?

    I did see some posts online about the repair procedure for Tesla cars, it was far from standard and would cost a fortune, it's pretty much go back to Tesla for parts and repair.

    $30k for this....

    My thinking is that the usual prang that may involve replacing a radiator and bumper on an ICE is not the same on an EV and whatever work will be more expensive.
    How resilient are EV cars driving through a flood?

    That should come down as the cars become more popular though. Also competition between places that will service them will increase. Besides, that's just Tesla. There are other EVs with more modest repair requirements.

    When you see an article that puts charging a Leaf at 12/15 hours, the rest of the articles haven't any credibility.
