Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Today, 29th of july, 2017 at about 12am +-10mins Rtejr was showing educational programme for children about Egyptians. The content included gay mariage and incest which in my point of view is not an apropriate content to underaged. Is there anywhere to complain?
    Thanks!

You are so bothered of equal rights that you try to see something anti-gay here. To make clear what I said: children should not see any sex related content - this is absolutely inapropriate theme to discuss with underaged. They will learn all necessary things and term and histories when they grow up. If you are pro gay or pro traditional sex - I have absolutely nothing against and did not want to discuss.
Thanks for understanding and attention to the topic.

So you want educational programmes to lie to children then that wouldn't be very educational now would it.

My appologies for ambiguous writing - midday I meant. About 40minutes before now ;)

You are missing the point. I'm talking about the content, not about the truths or lies. I said that sex is inappropriate topic for underaged. Isn't there anything else to say about egyptian history?

I think because it's an rte program you should probably complain to them...just have an auld Google for further details

I don't think anyone can offer a true opinion without knowing the context in which the topics were discussed.

Were they just mentioned? ie man could marry a man or the same for women, did they say that people could marry family Or did they go into detail about the specifics and acts?

If the ancient Egyptians practiced such beliefs then why shouldn't it be mentioned.

I respect you not having own opinion. My opinion is that sex theme should be avoided at all as it is not children's topic. There is much more interesting and important things to highlight for them. If the boundaries are not set, there is a potential to get more adult content broadcasted on children programmes. And next time it may not fit into your boundaries of "apropriate".

Better not watch horrible histories so, lots of "inappropriate" stuff covered there.

Just looking at the schedule, it was horrible histories. God op, you really need to relax. It's not porn your kid was exposed to

What has gay marriage got to do with sex?

If you are pro gay or pro traditional sex - I have absolutely nothing against and did not want to discuss.

Every society in human history has had a tradition of homosexuality.

Levels of openness around the issue have varied drastically depending on the era and the nature of the society involved, but to create this dichotomy of gay versus traditional sex (whatever that is) as if homosexuality came in with the internet is inaccurate.

I'm trying to understand the issue of why you deem it inappropriate though? If there was a female/male marriage in it that would be fine? it's just a marriage at the end of the day it's not going to traumatise them

You can't teach about Cleopatra and her family without teaching about incest. The Ptolemaics were possibly the most incestuous dynasty in existence. Seriously, for nearly 300 years they basically only married immediate family members. Not the mild incest of most royalty where many marriages are with second and third cousins, Ptolemy's descendants married their siblings, aunts/uncles, etc. If you trace Cleopatra's family tree back over a quarter of a millennium her most of her ancestry stems from just 3 people.

I don't have rte but rte jr is a radio channel. Looking at the TV guide the block of kids shows is also called rte jr. The op might better advise us if they ever come back. But they are probably busy smashing their tv or locking their children in a dungeon so they don't get exposed to any inappropriate material

I could be wrong but I think RTE Junior is a radio channel and RTEjr is a television channel.

Which one promotes incest and gay marriage? Or are they all at it up there in Dublin?

Are you opposed to all marriage being part of children programming or only the gays?

Dude doesn't know the difference between 12AM and 12PM, how can you expect him to know the difference between RTE Junior and RTEjr?
