Age old question... been racing this year and last and its about time I bought a proper triathlon bike. Been holding off for a while to see if this sport would wear off but it seems to be here to stay.

Like many before me I just can't keep up on my current road bike and am looking at triathlon bikes around the €2,500 mark. Can anyone recommend bikes around this price? I've looked on wiggle and they seem much cheaper than Irish retailers although I would prefer to buy in an Irish based bike shop.

I know you can spend any amount on triathlon bikes but from someone who knows very little can people please recommend a few? I'd consider buying one secondhand either...

Initially I've been looking at these.

You'll get better value second hand and generally TT bikes are not abused as much as road bikes. Fit is key so keep an eye out for something in your size. Towards the end of the season/year you will tend to get people selling their old bike to trade up or simply because they are not using it anymore.

Second hand market can work great alright.

Speaking of which, I might know of a Shiv coming on sale soon. 6'+ only should apply.

With the right Bike Shop in the long run you`ll get better value. If you drop €2,500 on a bike they'll more than likely throw in a few bits & pieces. You'll get cheaper & faster repairs down the road. You can probably haggle for a bike fit with them.
An indifferent bike shop versus online, definitely go online.

Seeing as its on your list i've a 2010 Felt B12 gathering dust that would set you back a lot less than 2500! Has been used once 1 last 2 years since upgrading to new machine.
