Looking at replacing my six year old 13" MBP with a new one.
Thinking of spending around €2300 and hoping to get something that will last another six years.

    Two options really:

    1. 3.1GHz i5 with 256GB hard drive and upgrade the RAM to 16GB. Comes to €2339.

    2. Go for the next model up. Same processor, 8GB of RAM but 512GB hard drive. €2349

Not currently into HD photography or video editing. Will be used for a bit of programming. No gaming. Otherwise, web stuff, movies, music (making and storing) and general photo album type stuff.

Current computer has a 256GB SSD and I rarely find myself stuck for space, thanks to good housekeeping and time machine backups.

Given that so much is moving to the cloud and streaming, I'm inclined to think that more RAM rather than more storage is the way to go in order to best future-proof my purchase.

    Anybody agree or disagree?
    Anything I'm not thinking of?

    Cheers!
