Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Insurance for car bought in north

I am heading up to the north to buy a used car tomorrow and paying VRT down south.
Is it possible to get instant insurance online with southern insurance company so that I can drive it back down straight away considering that it will still have UK plates?

    Thanks in advance

Ring your own insurance company and give them the car and ref details and they'll put you on cover. You then simply tell them the new ref once you VRT it.

I don't think the OP current has an insurance policy. Insurance companies are ok with transferring over to a UK car until it's put on Irish plates but some of them don't seem to like starting up a new policy on a UK registered car.

    Hi,
Sorry for bringing up an old thread, but i’m In the same situation now. I do not have a car or insurance at present and would like to head north to buy a car. Anyone an idea how I insure it for the drive home - before I get proper cover after?
