    Hi,

Heading to Valencia for 4 days in a little bit with our 12 year old.

What are the MUST SEES while we are there? It's not too long so we are keen to get to see the best possible things when there.

    Cheers

Back now from Valencia and ad a great time. What a beautiful city. So much to see and do.

From the old town to the beach, the Bio Park, the Science Museum, it was brilliant.

We stayed in the SH Valencia Palace which was a great hotel in a great location. You could walk everywhere from here (except the beach).

The hop on hop off is great as you can go on either the blue line of red line so don't have to choose and the 48hr is only €19.

Our 12 year old had a ball as well with all the activities. It also felt very safe walking around at night, no messing etc.

The food was great and was very reasonable (except at the beach area)

Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a great family holiday.

PS: We flew from Cork to Madrid and got high speed train to Valencia. Only 1.5hrs at 300km per hour. Was a great trip also

Thanks for the report. What has put me off going to Valencia are the late flights and the cost of the flights. I had looked in to going via Madrid as you did. Flights can be very cheap to Madrid. Is it the Atocha train station that the train leaves from and what was the approximate cost of the train transfer. Did you book the train online prior to going or just turned up. Are there discounts available for persons of a certain age?
We were thinking of a few nights in Valencia and four nights coastal close to Valencia such as Peniscola.

Yeah we always wanted to go but couldn't get the flights until we saw the flights to Madrid also.

We got in late to Madrid so decided too stay 2 nights there which was a nice little break.

We stayed in the Mecure Centro (€89 per night for 3 people) beside the Prado and only a few minutes walk from Atocha Station where we got the train.

It's was about €110 for the three return tickets on the train and we pre-booked them on the Renfe website, which has an English version. Very straight forward like booking a plane ticked. Not sure about the discounts, but I think there was for our daughter.

    Well worth the trip.

Also as a bonus, when we got off the train back from Valencia we were able to go straight to the Metro direct to the airport without leaving the train station. Plus it is free of charge is you are using the high speed train. It even went to our Terminal (4)

Left Valencia at 12.40pm and was in Madrid Airport and checked by about 3pm. Vary easy.
