Anyone been shopping on the big German ecommerce sites lately?

Just started on Amazon.de as they have an english version now.

    Just bought a new 75" TV on Amazon.de for €2,169 inc delivery:D

Cheapest on on Amazon.co.uk is £3,450stg and they don't deliver to Ireland:mad:

I think this is going to be the way things start going soon. The guys in work are saving a packet.

One guy saved €80 on new biker boots and a girl saved €70 on her contact lens.

Anyone know any other good site in the EU?

Saw a great article in the Irish Times about online shopping after Brexit which put me onto this.

Yeah, I have bought two TV's, soundbars and Xbox one from Amazon Germany as well as a ton of other stuff.
There are a load of German stores that i have used and Media Markt (Regional offers) is another.
Media Markt are in many cities in Germany and they do free shipping within Germany, sometimes it is €9.95 to Ireland.

They also have eBay stores, so for example Media Markt Munich may have a PS4 for €170 but Media Markt Berlin might not have one for less than €300, and vice versa with other products etc.

Media Markt are in a few Countries in Europe but so far i find the German online stores the best option from Ireland.
Using mailboxde.com with consolidation as well.

Thanks, looks like I could have saved a few quid over the last year, also a lot of Amazon UK will not send to Ireland, not all but increasing.

How do you get the English version of the de site?

Well I'm using Chrome so when you go to Amazon.de, up top of the page under the search box there is like a small globe with DE beside it. You can click the drop down menu and select English.

the historical amazon price checker works on de too.

    https://de.camelcamelcamel.com/

People were getting the large philips airfryers a good bit cheaper on the de site. They have free delivery on many items.

I was looking up a light fitting which was much cheaper, I think the product was german made. I think germany companies might have much higher RRP in germany than the UK so you can benefit a lot.

I got bike tyres made by german company schwalbe a LOT cheaper on this site.

    https://www.bike-mailorder.de/

there are several other bike shops, they usually charge 10euro delivery which is very reasonable, but some UK sites have free/included delivery. So it might mean you might have to buy several things to get a good saving. Some bike parts are consumables that you know you will need in the future.

    Some great tips there.

I do think this is going to be the way we start shopping online, especially if we are going to be charged import duties from the UK like the Irish Times article suggests, and they have quotes from people from revenue etc.

I saw those MediaMarkt Stores in Valencia last week, must give them a look.

This may be handy for anyone using Amazon DE.

Get €5 off €25 spend after you install Amazon Assistant addon on your browser (expires on the 29th August)
    1. Make sure Amazon.de is configured to display in German (Like in this post)
    2. Create an address in Germany
    3. Install the Amazon Assistant application on your browser.
    4. They will email you a verification code.
    5. Follow steps through to checkout.

    6. change to your normal address for delivery

You have to have one of these browsers installed -

    Browsers compatible with this promotion

    Mozilla Firefox
    Google Chrome
    Opera
    360 Safe Browser
    360 Quick Browser
    Sogou Explorer

Was buying bookshelf speakers, Amazon.uk not delivering to IRL, Amazon.de does & even with delivery cost it's cheaper. Amazon UK currency conversion is a rip off, way more expensive than official exchange rates.

Great stuff. I think when people catch on to this there will be a massive switch away from Amozon.uk to the likes of Amazon.de and Ebay.de.

I wonder what will happen to the likes of Parcel Motel and Parcel Wizard when people realise they don't need to go to the hassle of using them to get stuff in from the UK.

Especially when you take into account the rip off exchange rates from Amazon and Ebay

Just checked the TV I bought for €2,159 on amazon.de and it's €3,735 on the UK site.

That's some saving, and they delivered it to Ireland:D

Hey guys, just looking to buy a few TVs from Amazon.de.
I noticed that some model numbers are only for Germany, is there an equivalent for UK/Ireland? just to compare prices.
Also did you had any issues with the apps/country settings?
read on another forum that the app store is the german one.

    thanks!

Depending on the TV, the model number itself should be the same, just the letters that might be different. For example there may be a DE (Germany) instead of UK.

You can change the region and language on most TV's
