    Totally geoblocked today.

Amazon must be trying to figure out and get their region blocking right at the moment for when they finally launch also finding out which rights they have for which Country.

have it ready to go there now, i ll watch it later. whats the verdict people?

Amazon Originals working again for me without the VPN. Still geoblocked on everything else though.

I was visiting a friend in the UK at the weekend, I saw his Fire TV box set up. Any word on whether they will ship it here directly in the future? Am not against Parcel Motel, btw. :P

So is it just Amazon originals that's available now? Don't think it's worth it to me for that.

It's supposed to be launching properly in December, I think.

Does that include "The Man in the High Castle"? I watched the FREE episode last night but when I tried to sign up for a months trial it seems that streaming isn't allowed to Ireland? Judging from the first episode it's going to be epic. I saw a boxed set of the 1st edition for sale somewhere, but I'm not sure if it has been pirated given that Amazon don't have a DVD version for sale.

30/11 update - working for me now - watched 3 more episodes of "The Man in the High Castle" - Yippee!!

Any update on what's available now? It's very hard to find out what's actually out there for Irish customers.

I can't watch anything on it now without a VPN. I only signed up for the monthly payment membership which only gives you access to the streaming so I don't know if that's why? Someone with full membership might be able to tell you differently.

The specific date for the worldwide December roll out is still TBC...would be good to know.

Yep, I'm finding it pretty well useless now, but I did get through of all of Season.1. of The Man in the High Castle. I'm going to ring Amazon in the morning and will post if there's any news.

There was a lot of speculation in Canada in particular that it would launch Thursday - based largely on an inaccurate statement made by a senior executive at Bell Canada - but that didn't happen of course. They are keeping quiet about it now.

originals seems to be working again for me

Wonder if they're going for a Christmas launch, hoping for a slow news day.

Only originals unfortunately, despite their nonoriginal UK shows mostly being unavailable in Ireland otherwise. That's what I wanted it for so I'm not signing up.

This is the first line on the website:
Enjoy exclusive Amazon Originals as well as popular movies and TV shows.

I've just cancelled my trial sub and won't be going back until they sort out the streaming service.

You're right, I just started the free trial. More stuff is there when you get into it. Sorry, I jumped to conclusions.

    No problem at all! :)
I just read your post, then the website and got confused haha!

TBH, only originals would not be worth it, so I'm glad the other stuff is there too.

Has anybody found the iOS app , keeps asking me to change to uk store

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,152 ✭✭✭Ben D Bus

Is it possible to browse their catalogue before signing up?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,981 ✭✭✭✭ted1

Must check the kids fire tablets when I get home and see if they can now access the videos

No (hence my confusion) but I'm looking at it now. Seems like it has the same as the UK stuff so far but I have no real idea.

No xbox or samsung TV apps yet so no sale.

EDIT: Also noticed comments on the android store that the app has no chromecast support ?

EDIT 2: You can get an app for xbox if you region switch to UK and back to ireland then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 348 ✭✭Buttros

At work so cant really check exactly, but the full press release includes "prime video members can also watch hundreds of popular movies and tv shows from top networks and Hollywood studios"

    That could be a dealbreaker!

OK, four shows on Amazon UK that aren't here: Black Sails, The Americans, Outlander, The Walking Dead and Please Like Me.

The movie section also is not good.

The Samsung app is there but it keeps telling me that there is no internet connection when there is

I reckon the video is probably tied to the .com service. Meaning any exclusive video on the .co.uk service would not be available.

I wonder if there's plans to harmonise the offerings?

Sounds easy to the layman, but Netflix has one of the most fragmented offerings of any service I've ever seen :D

Mine does that sometimes, it thinks it has a wired connection instead of wireless so I have to go in and change it to wireless in network settings.

Bit confused. I appear to have accidentally signed up for a trial the other day, when buying some gadgets.

Now that the video side is in Ireland can you only see certain things if you sign up in full, after the trial? Transparent s3 isn't working, same with Mr. Robot. The Imitation Game is blocked...

Is Prime simply a fancier version of Amazon Video (it's for rentals or purchases) and you have to subscribe to get access?

I addded it from the App menu . Amazon instant video

Just signed up for the trial and there is virtually zero content on it.

Amazon originals, Seinfeld and a small handful of movies and anime. Some kids stuff too. No console apps or chromecast support listed on the website either.

Not worth paying for at the moment anyway.

I've heard of some of those movies!

Amazon have provided us the worst selection of TV and movies possible, makes virgins measly my prime look impressive. Nothing like the UK selection and definitely not even worth the E2.99, very disappointing from Amazon, clearly it's only a 7 day trial and not a month as normal as that's all it would take to view the content available...

5 kids things between movies and tv, none of which would be of interest to most!

If you log in to a UK account on psn you can get the amazon app and install it will be available to all accounts

It's absolute rubbish right now. Excluding Bollywood and Anime there's about 100 films in total and maybe 10 of them that aren't either straight to DVD or more than 15 years old.

If you don't like Jeremy Clarkson, you really shouldn't bother.

I had an Amazon Prime account and was using a VPN to access it. I got rid of the VPN when I heard they were launching globally but have been denied any access to any video since. I figured I'd wait it out until they launched worldwide officially but I'm still getting a geoblocked message on everything?

I didn't sign up for the full Prime membership because I couldn't avail of most of it anyway, so I just did the monthly payment for Prime Video. Do I need to unsubscribe and then sign up again?

    EDIT:
I've cancelled my previous subscription but now I can't find where to sign up for the €2.99 trial? It just keeps linking to Prime and a 30 day free trial followed by £ or $ per month?

That's a shocking lineup. Even at €18 for 6 months I'm going to pass.

That's not the full lineup. There's a "see more" button after each heading.

EDIT: Scratch that. There is more than that picture shows but even then it's pretty poor. Movie wise anyway.

I got that. But surely, like Netflix, they lead with their strongest titles first.

I've managed to get it working and have expanded all the categories and it is really really poor. Even in the TV, original content aside, there's nothing.

I'd hope it's just them getting set up and there'll be more added pretty quickly, otherwise they'll struggle to hold onto anyone after the 7 free days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,467 ✭✭✭h3000

Is there only 6 episodes of Fear The Walking Dead on it?

Scratch that there is only six episodes in season 1

The new service has just been reviewed on RTE (Mary Wilson's programme) by a reporter who had clearly read a company press release rather than tried to use the service.

So if you've subscribed to Amazon Prime to avail of the postage benefits to NI, can you access prime video via this subscription?

If you're in NI you'd have been able to use the UK service for years now.
