This is an American lo-fi band who didn't sell many records but were influential in their own little scene. The lead singer is more well-known than his band. Courtney Love once sang about him in a Hole song.

Obviously a bit obscure for people here, but Calvin Johnson, the lead singer is well-known, having spent time with Built To Spill, Modest Mouse, Kurt Cobain, Beck etc. etc.

The drummer in the pic is Tobi Vail of Bikini Kill, who was in a band with Calvin Johnson and Kurt Cobain, as well as being on his record label and from the same town as Beat Happening-Olympia in Washington.
