Smackdown has finished for the week which brings us to the end of gameweek two.

I noted previously that the league table at the end of this week would determine the seeding for the Fantasy Cup which starts next week, and so you can discover where you stand by reading on...

*Note - Smackdown spoilers below. Do not read further if you do not want news of Raw.*

    Smackdown scores

    LeeJM.....................................9 pts
    Bounty Hunter..........................8 pts

    Smackdown Fallout

It's LeeJM who gets the best result from Smackdown; wins from Jey Uso and Shinsuke Nakamura got him his score. The second highest score goes to Bounty Hunter, thanks to wins from Nakamura and Naomi.

Besides these two players, the rest of us didn't have much to celebrate.

The average score for Smackdown was 3 points.

Now let us see what that means for our league table at the end of the week...

    Gameweek 2 Standings

    1. paulie21..............................................................................71 points

    2. daithi1989...........................................................................67 points

    = Mr. Guappa ..........................................................................67 points

    League Fallout

Congratulations to paulie21 who retains his lead at the end of the week. It remains very tight at the top though with several players breathing down his neck.

As noted, the league standings would determine seeding for the Cup which starts this upcoming week and the seeding works out like so:
Top seeds: paulie21, daithi1989, Mr. Guappa, Gaw_.

Second seeds: beakerjoe, Bounty Hunter, Kankan14, lycan238.

Third seeds: Cheese Wagstaff, Necrominus, KayJay86, montyrebel.

Fourth seeds: Lord TSC, LeeJM, Ruat Caelum, Lithium_93.

lycan238 and Cheese Wagstaff had the same points and could not be separated on captaincy scores. However lycan238 had a slightly better overall positional average and so got the nod for that seeding.

I will be involved in the Cup purely as organiser, though I will put myself on a reserve list.

The draw for the cup will be up tomorrow!

    Smackdown results

    Bobby Roode defeated Aiden English.

The Usos defeated The Hype Bros.

Shinsuke Nakamura defeated The Singh Brothers.

Becky Lynch and Naomi defeated Natalya and Carmella.

    AJ Styles defeated Kevin Owens.

Note - A question came up last year about guys working as special refs and whether that counted as an appearance point for being in a match. I had meant to comment on this for this year but I forgot.

The rule of thumb is that wrestlers must be competing in a match to be eligible for points; so being the referee doesn't count as an appearance point.

    330px-Bobby_Roode_at_HoH_14.jpg

As you have hopefully spotted above, I have updated the roster so Bobby Roode is now available as a transfer if you want him.

On to Gameweek #3 (The Cup begins!)

    220px-1928_Sam_Maguire_cup%2C_GAA_museum.jpg
    paulie21 won last year

Gameweek #3 sees the return of one of the most popular parts of the game, the Fantasy Cup, which sees players taking on one another in match-ups.

The cup game will run alongside the regular league game we've been playing up to now. That means the squad you select for this upcoming week will cover both the league and your Cup game simultaneously.

I will be pitting you sixteen players into four groups. Every second week you will take on your group rivals in a Cup game. A win will give you 3 points, a draw will give you 1 point, and you will get nothing for a loss. After you have played each rival once, the group stage will be complete. The group winners and group runners up will advance to the quarter-finals.

    Deadline

The deadline for Gameweek 3 will be before the start of Monday Night Raw.

    Transfers and Captaincy

You can now make up to 2 transfers to your squad if you wish. These must be from the same tier. For example, a Main Event Tier performer for a Main Event Tier performer; an Upper Tier performer for an Upper Tier performer.

Please outline who you are transferring out and transferring in when posting your squads to make it easier for me to follow.

Once a team has been posted that team will be final and no edits will be allowed (unless there are exceptional circumstance, i.e. a wrestler gets legit hurt, or they are suspended).

Don't forget to choose a captain who will score you double points.

    Want to join in?

The game may be under way but new players are always welcome. Places for the Cup are now closed but the league is still open and there will be further tournaments in future, such as the tag team tournament, so sign up now to get involved.

Good luck for the week ahead, everyone. Gameweek #3 is now open for business.

(Don't forget to check the thread tomorrow to see what group you have landed for the Cup!)

    Maybe I'm wrong and it's only a 4pt difference but I think I got 11pts for Raw not 7

Finn vs Jordan = 2pts for each guys appearance and another 3 for Finns win (5pts)
Dean & Seth vs Matt & Jeff = 1pt for Deans appearance and another 4 for his win (5pts)
and 1 pt for Big Cass's appearance

Main Event Tier 1: Finn Balor
Main Event Tier 2: Shinsuke Nakamura
Main Event Tier 3: Naomi Seth Rollins

Top Tier 1: Big Cass Chad Gable
    Top Tier 2: Dean Ambrose
    Top Tier 3: Jason Jordan

    Lower Tier: Akira Tozawa

    Captain: Akira Tozawa Chad Gable

Yes, you're correct. I know the problem: in my notes I have you listed as having Braun Strowman instead of Finn, but you transferred Braun out last week. I failed to record that. Apologies for that. I'll correct the scores shortly.

I actually count a score of 15 for BH. Another 4 for Rollins winning?

I think Seth is one of his transfers in for the coming week.

I don't think he has Rollins. This was his most recent team:

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=104407788&postcount=36

I left Strowman in my notes instead of transferring him out for Finn which caused the confusion.

According to my calculations Bounty Hunter merits an extra 3 points for Summerslam due to Finn winning on the show. (I only awarded 1 point because I had him listed as having Braun who lost his match).

Likewise on Raw he merits an extra 4 points because Finn won on that show (I gave a zero there because I had Braun there who wasn't in a match).

So I believe he is owed an extra 7 points which I have now added to his score.

I hope everything is accurate now. Apologies again to BH for the cock-up. I usually pride myself on checking these things very well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,640 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

I've reviewed Bounty Hunter's scores in the game:

Raw and SD on Gameweek 1 = 18 points
    Summerslam PPV = 24 points
Raw and SD on Gameweek 2 = 19 points

That gives a combined score of 61 points which I've since added to the league table.

The problem was a result of me failing to take out Strowman for Finn last week.
    Strowman's performance this week:

    Summerslam - 1 point.
    Raw/SD - 0 points

    Balor's performance this week:

    Summerslam - 4 points
    Raw/SD - 4 points

    Overall performance for the week:

    Strowman - 1 point
    Balor - 8 points

Bounty Hunter thought he deserved an extra 4 points for Raw (which he did) but he also deserved another 3 points for Summerslam.

So he was denied 7 points overall.

I hope that clears things up. I will make sure in future I double and triple check the changes that are made to line-ups to avoid this happening again.

    *****PW Boards Fantasy Cup 2017*****

The draw for the 2017 Fantasy Cup has been completed, and I've also done a draw to determine the fixtures, and so now it's time to reveal to you which group you have ended up in, and who you will be facing in your first match this upcoming week!

    220px-1928_Sam_Maguire_cup%2C_GAA_museum.jpg
paulie21 won the tournament last year

The Cup ties will take place every second week, in addition to the league game we've been playing.

How it works: you 16 players have been drawn to compete against one another in 4 groups: A, B, C and D. The group winners and second-placed teams qualify for the quarter-finals.

Further below you will find what will hopefully be a useful Q&A about the Cup.

    Here are the groups...

    Gameweek #7

    Draw Fallout

Last year's Cup champ paulie21 begins his defence in a group with a familiar rival in Bounty Hunter, as well as two new opponents in Necrominus and Lithium_93.

In Group B, beakerjoe and Cheese Wagstaff, who also met in the group stages last year are joined by two new competitors in Mr. Guappa and Lord TSC.

In Group C, 2015 Cup Winner LeeJM finds himself in the same group as Gaw_ , as was the case last year, with Kankan14 now joining them, along with a new entrant, montyrebel.

The final group, Group D, sees last year's League Champ daithi1989 facing off against three new players to the game in lycan238, KayJay86 and Ruat Caelum.

The new entrants to the game have really freshened things up and I'm looking forward to seeing how these groups play out. There's always some fun surprises in these games.

    Some Q & A on the Cup...

Will this Cup game affect the league game that has been running up to now?

No, the league is separate and will continue to run each week. This Cup game is in addition to that game and it will run every second week.
Will we have to pick two squads for the Cup and the League?

No. The seven-person squad you submit each week will be used for both the League AND the Cup on Cup weeks.
    How are the matches decided?

The player with the most points from his squad wins the tie and gains 3 points. If it's a draw, then both players share one point. There's nothing for a loss.
How is qualification from the groups determined?

Qualification shall be determined in the following ways:

    - The player with the most points from the group games advances.

    - In the event that players share the same group points, then the player with the highest overall score from his seven-person squad advances.

    - In the event that both players share the same overall scores from their squads, then the head-to-head record determines who advances.

    - In the event that the head-to-head record fails to settle it, then the player with the best score from his captaincy choices throughout the group shall advance.

    - In the unlikely event that all of the above fails to settle it, then a special one-off tie will determine who advances.
    How will the quarter-finals operate?

The quarter-finals will be seeded with each group winner being the top seeds. Those who met in the group stages will be kept apart for the Q-F draw.

Both the quarter-finals and the semi-finals will be two-legged affairs, whereas in the group stages you'll play each other just once.

I hope that clears up any questions you may have. If not, feel free to ask away.

Those who haven't yet submitted a squad for this week have up until the start of Monday Night Raw to do so.

    Good Luck

Best of luck to you in your match-ups. It will hopefully make Raw and Smackdown even more interesting to follow. Here is a reminder of the matches ahead this week:

The deadline for the week has passed so here are the weekly trends...
    Popular trends - G.W. 3

Most popular Main Event Tier picks

    1. Bobby Roode / Finn Balor 10

    2. Braun Strowman / Sasha Banks 6

    3. Seth Rollins 5

    Most popular Upper Tier picks

    1. Jason Jordan 12

    2. Dean Ambrose 10

    3. Shelton Benjamin / The Miz 4

    Most popular Lower Tier picks

    1. Akira Tozawa 9

    2. Enzo 6

    3. James Ellsoworth / Tye Dillinger 1

Jason Jordan remains the most popular pick in the game with 12 of you having him; Tozawa remains the most popular of the Lower Tier picks but several of you have lost faith with him after Summerslam and Enzo has seen a rise in support.

Amongst the Main Event Tier picks, Bobby Roode's debut in the game has seen ten of you take him on board, putting him level with Finn Balor. Sasha Banks has gained some new owners while Nakamura slips in popularity.

Bobby Roode is the most popular captaincy pick overall with four players going for him.

Good luck for the week ahead everybody.

Raw has finished and so now it's time to assess how things stand in the game. This week marks the first week of Cup ties and below you will find out how you are faring in your ties at the halfway point of the gameweek, and below that the current state of the league table. Read on for the latest...

*Note - Raw spoilers below. Do not read further if you do not want news of Raw.*

    PW Fantasy Cup (Latest Scores)

    Group A

    Necrominus 16 - 8 Bounty Hunter
    paulie21 6 - 11 Lithium_93

    Group B

    beakerjoe 13 - 15 Mr. Guappa
    Cheese Wagstaff 8 - 20 Lord TSC

    Group C

    Gaw_ 13 - 1 LeeJM
    Kankan14 3 - 4 montyrebel

    Group D

    KayJay86 13 - 12 lycan238
    daithi1989 16 - 6 Ruat Caelum

With Smackdown to come, we're effectively at half-time in these ties and while some players have already sealed wins, for others the tie will be decided based on what happens on tonight's show.

As you can see the highest score for Raw went to Lord TSC with an excellent score of 20 points. His gutsy call to stick the captaincy on Enzo paid off handsomely, and a Dean Ambrose win also helped his score.

daithi1989, Necrominus and myself shared the second highest score with 16 points.

The average score for Raw was 11 points.

Now let us see what the scores for Raw mean for the league standings...

    Gameweek 3 Standings (Post-Raw)

    1. daithi1989...........................................................................83 points

    2. Mr. Guappa .........................................................................82 points

    League Fallout

There's been plenty of interesting developments following Raw. The big story is that there is a new man on top as last year's champ daithi1989 takes first place, although it remains very tight up there.

Lord TSC is another big climber, jumping up to mid-table after his impressive score from Raw.

It will be interesting to see if Smackdown has a significant effect on the table with scores so close.

    Raw results

Jeff Hardy won a 15-man Battle Royal that featured Curt Hawkins, Kalisto, Big Show, R-Truth, Goldust, Apollo Crews, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, Matt Hardy, Finn Balor, Curtis Axel, Bo Dallas, Elias and Jason Jordan.

    Enzo Amore defeated Noam Dar.

    Cesaro defeated Seth Rollins.

    Dean Ambrose defeated Sheamus.

    Emma defeated Mickie James.

John Cena and Roman Reigns defeated Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson.

Alexa Bliss defeated Sasha Banks to win the Raw Women's Title
    .

    330px-Emma_WrestleMania_Axxess_2015.jpg

Emma picked up a win and appeared to debut a new theme. She is a Lower Tier option and doesn't appear in any squads currently. Will you be tempted to transfer her in for next week?

In other news Enzo did well for those who put their faith in him.

Samoa Joe according to reports suffered an injury and will miss a short number of weeks. It might be a good idea for those who have him to transfer him out.

The game may be under way but new players are always welcome. Places for the Cup are now closed but the league is still open and there will be further tournaments in future, such as the tag team tournament, so sign up now to get involved.

That concludes the Raw update. Over to Smackdown to finish off the week.

NOTE - I will be away on Wednesday so I will be aiming to post the Smackdown update on Thursday.

Hand on heart, I picked Enzo cause I momentarily forgot 205 Live doesn't count :o

But I figured with his move to the CW division, and the fact he seems to be a title contender, they'd have to give him a win over a CWer on Raw to make sense of the title shot.

    Smackdown Fallout

It's paulie21 that has the best night from Smackdown. His captaincy choice of Shelton Benjamin came good, and Bobby Roode also picked up a win. Rusev also provided an appearance point.

The second highest scores went to Bounty Hunter and Cheese Wagstaff. BH scored strongly via wins from his captain Chad Gable and Shinsuke Nakamura, while Cheese Wagstaff got a strong score courtesy of his captain Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Roode winning.

The average score for Smackdown was 8 points.

Now it's time to see what those scores meant for the results of the cup ties, as we discover which players started with an opening win.

    Cup Fallout

It was an exciting conclusion to Group A's ties as both Bounty Hunter and paulie21 recovered from deficits following Raw to win their ties.

In Group B, Lord TSC and Mr. Guappa are able to hold on to their leads to secure impressive opening wins, and as their group shows, there is nothing between them currently.

In Group C, Gaw_ records an eye-catching win while Kankan14 is able to come back from behind to get his first victory.

In Group D, lycan238, having been behind following Raw, roars back to take a great win. daithi1989 is also able to record a triumph despite being run close at the end.

Remember that the top two in each group advance to the quarter-finals, so for those players who recorded wins the pressure is eased somewhat; but for those who recorded losses, the next tie in the group becomes vital.

The next cup games will take place in two weeks.

Now let us see what Smackdown's scores meant for our standings...

    League Fallout

I thought this might be the first week paulie21 loses his grip at the top but his great Smackdown score means he climbs right back to first place. He has been on top at the end of every gameweek so far. Well done to him. The competition at the top remains fierce though with Gaw_ and Mr. Guappa tied for second place and just a point behind.

There's quite a bit of movement further down the table too, with lycan238 and Cheese Wagstaff among the more noticeable climbers.

    Smackdown results

Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable defeated The Ascension.

    AJ Styles defeated Tye Dillinger.

    Bobby Roode defeated Mike Kanellis.

    Aiden English defeated Sami Zayn.

The Usos defeated Big E and Kofi.

    Tamina defeated local competitor.

Shinsuke Nakamura and Randy Orton defeated Jinder Mahal and Rusev.
    330px-Randy_Orton_May_2014.jpg

Randy Orton reminded us of his value this week with a big win. Somewhat surprisingly he doesn't feature in any side currently. Are you tempted to bring him in for next week?

    On to Gameweek #4...

    Deadline

The deadline for Gameweek 4 will be before the start of Monday Night Raw.

Good luck for the week ahead folks as our attention returns to the league. Gameweek #4 is now open for business.

    Raw Fallout

For the second week in a row it is Lord TSC who achieves the best score for Raw. His decision to put the captaincy on The Miz paid off, plus he also scored wins from Enzo, Dean Ambrose and Braun Strowman to leave himself with a terrific points haul.

The second highest score went to Necrominus, who also put the captaincy on Miz, as well as having wins from Enzo, Ambrose, plus appearance points via Alexa Bliss and Jeff Hardy to secure a handsome return.

The average score for Raw was 14 points.

Now let us see what the above scores mean for the latest standings...

    League Fallout

The big news following Raw is that Gaw_ has risen to take top spot, so well done to him. Mr. Guappa remains in close pursuit in second place. Things remain extremely close at the moment though and less than twenty points separates 1st from 8th, so the picture could change a lot following Smackdown.

    Raw results

    John Cena defeated Jason Jordan.

Cesaro and Sheamus defeated Heath Slater and Rhyno.

    The Miz defeated Jeff Hardy.

Enzo Amore, Gran Metalik and Cedric Alexander defeated Noam Dar, Tony Nese and Drew Gulak.

Nia Jax and Emma defeated Alexa Bliss and Sasha Banks.

Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins defeated Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson.

    Braun Strowman defeated Big Show.

    330px-MascaraDoradaMTY.jpg

Gran Metalik picked up a win on Raw. He is available as a Lower Tier option but no one has him at the moment. Might he be worth a punt in future?

A bit surprising given Jeff's failure! But very welcomed. I'd say there could be someone else at the top come tomorrow!

Smackdown has finished which means we are at the end of Gameweek 4, and all I can say about last night's scores is: brace yourselves.

Last night was one of the lowest scoring shows I can ever recall. Only seven players scored anything, so if you got on the board last night you should be pleased. The remaining ten players got zero!

Below you will find the scores from last night (won't take long) and then what they mean for the league table. Read on for the latest...

*Note - Smackdown spoilers below. Do not read further if you do not want news of Smackdown.*

    Smackdown scores

    Bounty Hunter..........................4 pts
    daithi1989...............................4 pts
    LeeJM......................................4 pts
    Lord TSC..................................4 pts
    lycan238..................................4 pts
    KayJay86..................................1 pt
    Ruat Caelum.............................1 pt

    All others..................................0 pts

    Smackdown Fallout

Nakamura proved a precious squad member for Bounty Hunter, daithi1989, LeeJM, Lord TSC and lycan238, as it was his win over Randy Orton that resulted in the points achieved. Kayjay96 and Ruat Caelum picked up scores via appearances from Carmella and Tye Dillinger respectively.

Everyone else had to sit back in frustration as many of Smackdown's most popular wrestlers avoided action. There were no matches involving Bobby Roode, AJ Styles, Jinder Mahal, Kevin Owens, The Usos, Rusev, New Day or Gable and Benjamin.

The average was just 1 point. Yikes.

Now let us see what the scores above mean for our current standings...

    League Fallout

Although Smackdown was low-scoring, it has had a notable effect on our league with the main news being daithi1989, the reigning league champ, has finished out the week on top of the table. Well done to him. He won't need me to tell him it remains extremely tight up there and it's very much all to play for.

Lord TSC is another eye-catching mover as he caps off a terrific week by climbing to take joint ownership of fifth spot.

    Smackdown results

    Natalya defeated Carmella.

    Aiden English defeated Sami Zayn.

    Baron Corbin defeated Tye Dillinger.

    Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Randy Orton.

Aiden English records a win for a second week in a row. He's available as an Upper Tier option. Would you risk taking him on board?

On to Gameweek #5 (Fantasy Cup Week!)...

It's time once again for the Fantasy Cup. For a reminder of what your group looks like, scroll down in this post here.

    Gameweek #5 Cup Ties

    Group B

    Mr. Guappa vs Lord TSC

    Group D

This round will be really interesting, with those who recorded opening round defeats badly needing a result.

    Deadline

The deadline for Gameweek 5 will be before the start of Monday Night Raw.

Good luck for this big week ahead folks. Gameweek #5 is now open for business.

Main Event Tier 1: Finn Balor

With a tag title match on SD im guessing Gable might get an in ring week off after his teams debut last week and I suppose I must relent and get Enzo on board
