Took Mayweather 10 rounds to figure a guy out who doesn't even box. Referee stepped in way to early also trying to protect the boxing brand. Never called Mayweather out once despite three elbows. It's no wonder UFC is gaining popularity and boxing is losing it.

what did everyone think of the ref there?

Right decision. A knockout was inevitable

Fair play Conor, won rounds against the best ever, on his debut. Fair play!

He wasn't and isn't- the best ever

as expected, fair play to him though

    Bit of a farce really

    More so on floyd's part

Conor did well to get his pay cheque but Floyd could have ended that in round one if he wanted lads. Let's not fool ourselves

Mayweather had him from around 5. Mayweather isn't even close to an aggressive boxer. 'Losing' the early rounds isn't what it sounds like, it wasn't Conor dominating him.

Fair play to Conor. 10 rounds against one of the best boxers of all time in a different sport.

It only went 10 rounds because Floyd let it go there...disappointing, got pulled into the hype thinking McGregor would better. Nothing after round 2.

He was a punch or two away from possible brain injury. He'll feel that more than any MMA bout in terms of concussion etc

Fair flat to him though, lasted longer than Hatton

It was stopped because one 'boxer' had no energy left.

Floyd Mayweather earns just his 2nd stoppage victory in 11 fights since 2007.

Thought he was grand. He let a bit of work go in the clinch, Floyd was even complaining at one stage. The stoppage was bang on though. McGregor was done and his toughness was keeping him standing. Could have been badly hurt if it kept going.

    This. This all night long.

It was never a contest, I don't think McGregor can take any credit from this but it was a preposterous fight in the first place.

What he can take is a big wad of cash!

McGregor went 10 rounds with the best boxer ever (arguably) in his first boxing fight.

I love how those saying he had no chance and would be put away quickly are now saying the only reason it went 10 is because Mayweather wanted it to.

    Good lads. :pac:

Everyone says it's an early stoppage.

Conor is just counting his money. He knew going in that was the result.

"If anyone wants a knock, give me a shout."

    Fair play Conor.

But the ref has a job too!

True, optics would have been bad with photo of McGregor on his back. Fight was over. Glad it was stopped as it was.

That will be McGregors last boxing match. It's back to UFC now.

Mayweather had him figured out within 6 minutes. He saw every possible punch Conor could throw and from then on it was done.

Who is everyone??? The ref had to stop it tbf

Smacked the accent back into him.

Early stoppage? By about 10 or 20 seconds I'd say, he was completely out on his feet. The sport isn't 'first person to get knocked out'

Recompose myself.... Jesus.... chap would have been paralysed from ears up had ref not stopped it.

Everyone who gets stopped. Sorry for not being clear there
    The ref saved him.

McGregor fronting a bit there saying he wasn't hurt. He was out of it right after it was stopped and there was no need to take any more shots, the fight was over.

He said himself he couldn't. He said he needed to be cautious and figure him out.

If Floyd came out to knock Conor out the winner could have been different

SRL agrees it wasn't an early stoppage.

No one in their right mind thinks he needed to take any more punishment

    Judges had it 89-82.

Interestingly enough, 2 of them gave Floyd 2 of the first 3 rounds.

Conor landed 111 punches. The over/under was 29.5.
