Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Valencia keeper could have done better, through his legs.

    Kroos with a daisy cutter.

    Kovacic with a delightful assist.

Super goal. Valencia ran out of steam after 75.

    That goal for Alaves :pac::pac::pac:

This may come back and look stupid, but this looks like one of Messi's slow/distracted/disinterested nights.

Everything going through Iniesta or Coutinho.

Barca defence has been torn open at times tonight. Is it the 4 3 3 or the missing vermaleen factor?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 15,694 Mod ✭✭✭✭dfx-

    missing Busquets factor

Some suicidal stuff at times throwing everybody forward. There was no Barca player in their own half when the pass went through for the goal, and got caught 2 on 1 from their own corner not long before.

Honestly Alaves deserve to be winning by more

Coutinho poor maybe his back is still sore.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

Was shoehorned into the side which is never ideal when they are in such good form lately

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,500 ✭✭✭✭fullstop

GOAT does it again. Keeper probably should have saved that though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 289 ✭✭Rushden

Keeper should've saved both I thought, don't know where he was going for the first goal.

Armstrong's bias towards Barca and Messi is ridiculous tho, everything they do is amazing in his eyes

He is the Greatest player of all time though so nearly everything Messi does is great.

Barca would be only half the team without him.

Saw a stat midweek that said Messi has played a part (goal or assist) in 10% of goals scores by Barcelona at the Nou Camp ever.

I don't care what freak super athlete they make in the labs in the future, there's no way I can see anyone match or better what Messi has done or will do in the rest of his career. He's 30 and still looks to be evolving as a player. It's too stupid.

Having all their players in the opponent half is the way they play though. Compact high up the pitch shut off all passing lanes and have a sweeper keeper mopping up the space behind. It's not necessarily suicidal.

Exactly he's already incredible so no need to exaggerate him, his play speak for itself. The free kick tonight being a perfect example, good free but keeper should've saved it, described by Armstrong as unstoppable , keeper had no chance . Co commentator says keeper will be disappointed with himself but Armstrong has to hype it as being unstoppable . Don't know how he still has the gig with sky , not that the standard of commentary is usually high but he's terrible

When it comes to Messi/Barcelona/Pep you see that level of commentary all the time. They have a high school crush going on

Anybody know why there are so many empty seats in Nou Camp tonight?

And yet the great Barca team under Pep went off to a World Cup and two consecutive Euros sans Messi and won them all.

I think you are underestimating the rest of the players.

    Not just tonight

Would be a bit better if it werent for that match against Las Palmas (i think) behind closed doors.

Because despite Messri's brillance & Suarez back on form.

Barca are lacking an x factor. Not that great to watch this season. More defensive now.

    Eibar - Sevilla 5-1

Just a year ago Sevilla were close enough at the top and then Sampaoli announced he would leave for the Argentina job

Montella will be out soon i suppose.

Tickets are very expensive. Paid 105 per ticket for decent seats versus Deportivo a couple of years ago. And that was one of the lower category games meaning tickets were cheaper.

Las Palmas game wouldn't be helping figures either to be fair.

Guessing postponement wasn't an option because I can't see how this has went ahead. The pitch is like a paddling pool!:pac:

A good watch all the same.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,578 ✭✭✭✭Turtwig

Iniesta's ball control in that paddling pool was something else.

Griezmann not happy with the stick from the fans and lashes out at them. There was a counter on and he decided it was more important to keep possession.

Looking increasingly likely he is coming to the end of his spell there.

Valencia-Barca is a great game in the cup semi right now.

Messi is something else. Valencia can hardly lay a finger on him.

Hes becoming a full time 9
His game is changing, but some of the nonsense posted about him (Not just here) is beyond hilarious
Hes nine behind Messi in La Liga, i wouldnt bet against him catching him just like he did last season in the CL

I wouldn't either, but the lack of a league and general decline in influence on games will be of great solace to him I'm sure.

How is it a decline in influence on games when he has the ability to assist and score like today when he was involved directly in 4/5 goals
Ronaldo as a 9 is the best 9 in the world a mile ahead of media darlings like Kane

Knocking in a few against a pub team means diddley squat. We'll see what he does against PSG.

Ronaldo is barely hanging on to his status as a top 5 player in the world. He'll never reclaim top two status as that is already gone to Messi and Neymar. Meaningless tap-in hattricks against awful away teams like La Real don't change my opinion.

It's clear you've got a horn for Cristiano, and it's sad that you'll never see things for how they are. He simply doesn't have the intelligence to rival Messi. Never has, never will. He's done well to achieve what he has, stealing Ballon's.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,584 ✭✭✭Rekop dog

Jesus lads, that's a whole pile if resentment you're carrying there.

And if he scores a hat trick against them, will he be back in the top two?

Ronaldo is 33 and will decline from his super human status from here on out. Same will happen to Messi. The interesting conversation will be how well he does during the decline and everybody's expectations need to shift to view it through that kind of prism.

So Messi does it and hes god Ronaldo gets 7 in 4 against the same opposition and they are pub teams lol
