Madrid are woeful at the back.

    Navas keeping them in it.

    People say Marcelo is despicable
Suarez really gets my blood boiling.
Nothing wrong with him and rolling all over the pitch to kill the game.

    A hateful person.

    Full-Time. 2-2.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,022 ✭✭✭✭adox

Madrid a little unlucky although they are brutal defensively.

Pool won't fear Madrid on that evidence tonight.

That's my thinking also. Their defence really is there for the taking.
The 2 week break for Liverpool might be enough to recharge the legs that currently look drained.

I think Madrid will be a bit more cautious against them which won’t suit Liverpool’s style.

If they do come out like they did for most of the game Liverpool have the style and players to punish them.

I think Liverpool will win if they play their own game. Only thing that will stop Liverpool is if they freeze and the occasion gets to them, that won't happen to Real but if Liverpool play like they can play they'll beat them.

Didn't see the game as Barca had already won the title and Madrid are safely top 4. Lots of diving on both sides I take It? Good Game?

Ten men, Ronaldo now off, this is the sort of game Bale should be expected to step up and carry his team. Can't see it happening though.

    LOL

Didnt they just lose to Chelsea :pac:
Neither team seemed up for it tonight, Real saving themselfs for CL, Barca players the WC

    1. Yes they did lose to Chelsea.
    2. Zidane's Real won't (and can't) play like Conte's Chelsea.

Is it just me, or have the Clasico's have really lost their appeal?

I remember when Sky first starting showing them, they used to be so exciting. Maybe it was just the newness of it all?

Now perhaps we are so used to watching them that they haven't got the magic any more?

Think it was after or near the end of the match the remark was made that next season VAR will be used in Spain.

There was a rather cynical "Good luck with that" added to it.
It got me thinking how long that match would have taken to finish
It is 8.48 at time of posting.
With VAR in play last night we probably would only now enter injury time.

In terms of attacking quality I thought it was one of the games of the season. Some of the one touch stuff particularly first half was top drawer.

Considering it was a dead rubber, competition wise and both teams could easily have gone through the motions, especially with Champions League final and World Cup on the horizon, the effort level, temperment, tense atmosphere, quality at times and entertainment was rather impressive.
In fact, it is arguably one of the best ones in a few years!

To be honest I am not sure exactly what you mean by "the magic"

Barca "More Than A Club" at it again

    https://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2018/0508/961157-atletico-slam-barcelona-over-griezmann-pursuit/

They act just as badly as Real Madrid, yet some people can see them doing no wrong.

I can't wait for the derby this Saturday. The atmosphere is going to be electric. Junior is out for Betis who's a big loss as I don't trust Durmisi defending at all. Caparros is the new Sevilla trainer who's a bit of a legend by all accounts for the Sevillistas.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

Expected this to be bumped after last night.

Real, predictably lost again on the road with a much weakened side out.

Ramos played a blinder, missed a penalty at 2-0, scored an OG to put them 3-0 down and scored a last minute penalty to make it 3-2.

Barcas march to a perfect domestic season rolled on, again, they made a few changes themselves.

Barcelona are two games away from becoming Valverde's invincibles. With their final game at home to Real Sociedad, many reckon their final away game of the season tonight at Levante is their trickiest obstacle left. They have also left Messi out of the squad because they have some friendly game in South Africa coming up. Anyone think there's a chance they will slip up between now and the end of the season? Tonight's team news:
Levante XI: Oier; Coke, Rober Pier, Postigo, Luna; Lukic, Campana, Morales, Bardhi; Roger, Boateng.

Barcelona XI: Ter Stegen; Semedo, Yerry Mina, Vermaelen, Alba; Rakitic, Busquets, Iniesta; Dembele, Coutinho, Suarez.

Game kicks off in 15 minutes. Levante are in a good run of form and beat Sevilla a few weeks back so this might not be so straightforward for Barca, though I still expect them to win.

    Levante lead 1-0! Boateng.

Nearly 2-0 minutes later! Woodwork struck.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Now it is 2-0! Boateng again! Things just got very interesting!

When Vermaelen's contract is up it would want to be laughed out of the room at the thought of renewing it

Feck. 2-1. Coutinho with a deflected strike.

It seems Messi has been left out because Barcelona have a friendly in South Africa on Wednesday in the events to commemorate what would have been Nelson Mandela’s one hundredth birthday ,against ABSA Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
The team will travel to Johannesburg the day before the match, which kicks off at 6.15pm (both local time and CET) in the 90,000 capacity ,FNB Stadium, formerly known as Soccer City Stadium.
    It seems like absolute madness.

Yeah it would be the funniest story of the season if they rested players and blew an invincible season over that.

They should still avoid the humiliation as they only need to draw the game.

To throw away an unbeaten season like this ,tragic.
Umtiti is stealing a living as a professional footballer.

5-3. Damn what a game. And Coutinho gets his hat-trick.

Some stat said there on Sky: first time Barca have conceded 5 goals in 15 years.

Coutinho to get 5 and save the unbeaten season???? :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Oh my goodness I thought that was number six. Would have been all over. Watch Barca equalise now. Four minutes of stoppage time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

All over! Levante do it! 5-4!

This Barca team is not invincible!

    UNBELIEVABLE.

Barcelona are doing despite being awful in the transfer market.

    Mina another woeful signing.
