Just went out on holiday. Thankfully I didn't have covid-19 upon return. Another week and the place was in lockdown. Mad to think there were 40,000 people there that night and a couple of thousand from Lombardi travelling down to support Milan. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but the Italian government already knew of the breakout in Lombardi then.

Italian football returns tonight although without the fans obviously. Juventus vs Milan tonight and Napoli vs Inter tomorrow. Both matches being shown live on BT. Be interesting to see what the players are like after such a long break. Zlatan and Hernandez out for Milan a big loss.

0-0 at half time. Juve missed a pen, Rebic was sent off for a high foot immediately afterwards & Kjaer looked like he could have been fouled for a pen which wasn't checked by the ref(of course). Juve have been pretty poor bar an odd glimpse from Sandro or Costa.

Poor stuff from Juve that that have to waste time at the corner against a 10 men Milan team

Buon appetito, ragazzi: Italian football jumps straight back in (IT)
A group of Ultras greeted news of Serie A’s return by hanging a banner outside their stadium. “Disgusted by an absurd decision,” it read. “You chase the millions, not the ball.”

Figura di merda, ragazzi: Italian football gives the finger to its public.

Inter bring the tie level. Ball went in directly from a corner by Eriksen which Ospina was absolutely hopeless for.

Game was really poor late on as energy/fitness levels dropped off dramatically. Think these games will help the teams in the league as teams will struggle to recover from.
    Napoli vs Juve on Wednesday.

Napoli fluffed a great chance there to win it there. Going to penalties now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

Gattuso does what Ancelloti and Sarri failed to do with Napoli and actually won a cup.

Deserved win for Napoli. Juventus were very poor in the second half, didn't look like they were going to score.

    Dreadful game.

I'm glad Juve didn't win a domestic double playing like that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,817 ✭✭✭Smell the glove

Dreadful match but happy the gobbi didn't win another trophy ! The scenes in Naples were special of the fans celebrating but Jesus social distancing really went out the window there especially for a country that was severely hampered by covid-19 ha. What did people make of the computer graphics in the stand? It's an insult to the Ultras etc but it didn't look too bad all the same.

I think the computer flags looked really good.

    Mad how bad Juventus look.

It's an insult to the Ultras etc

That ship set sail about 25 years ago.

Football belongs to television, it can make its "product" as artificial as it wants. A fake game for a world of smartphone junkies.

Atalanta look impressive as ever. Nice little tribute during the minute silence as well. Inter should win this handy , sampdoria look so poor at the back. Saying that the inter goals were worked well on their part.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,640 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

Surprising result by Milan, I didnt think they would score 4 goals without a proper CF

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,817 ✭✭✭Smell the glove

How in the name of God are Fiorentina not winning this match. They've been completely the better side even after going down to ten.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,640 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

    That's really awful by Inter

What an opening 12 mins in Atlanta

    Lazio 2 up

Roma v Sampdoria is good game. Should be least 5 goals so far.
    Roma had cracker disallowed

Cracker of an equalizer for Atalanta. It's some match.

Edit: And now Atalanta take the lead having been 2 down. They're some team.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,817 ✭✭✭Smell the glove

This match is absolute quality. You'd nearly feel sorry for all the people watching premier league tonight when they missed out on this. Atalanta are hands down the best team in Europe to watch.

Atlanta are some side to watch.

Would love if they won the CL this year. Outsiders but they create so many chances

I'd love it too but I'd guess that someone like Bayern or Man City with an attack as strong as theirs would destroy Atalanta defensively. City already beat Atalanta 5-1 in the group stage.

There goes the competitive Serie A title race :/

    Of course they'll be outsiders.

But one legged games gives the smaller clubs a better chance.

Atlanta were excellent against City at the San Siro.
There in incredible form in 2020

Gagliardini's miss is one for the ages, keeper parries a shot leaving him with an empty net in front of him, he casually shapes up and wallops it off the post instead of tapping it in. Inter went on to concede late on and draw 3-3, Sassuolo continue to have the hex over Inter, Inter continue to stink the place out.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

I can't believe Lazio were given that penalty. Did they even turn on VAR to check it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,640 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

Referee was absolutely awful and destroyed the game for me

He was very poor. Fio never really looked very good, but didn't deserve that penalty against.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,740 ✭✭✭✭MD1990

I think the officials just decided we need a title race it is a penalty.

If Juventus had been given that their would be uproar

I cant see Lazio staying with Juventus. Just not good enough.

Really good match between Atalanta and Udinese. Luis Muriel scored two cracking goals, one from a free kick. 2-3 atm.

    It was excellent.

There has been 119 goals in 28 games Atalanta have played in Serie A, 4.25 goals per game on average.

    That is insane.

As good as Kulusevski has been in this match Inter have been really disappointing. They don't really have a lot to play for as they are not in a title race and top 4 is as good as guaranteed, especially with Milan tripping up Roma earlier leaves them 10 points clear. Roma in 2020 resemble a Turkish team, they have a load of cast offs and players past their prime.

Very quick turnaround in the Parma vs Inter match. Two softish goals have Inter in the lead.

Tbf the commentator called them getting a winner if they could get one. I don't think the red made much difference to Parma as Inter just briefly got their sh*t together. Conte enjoyed the comeback, I assume he will later.

Lazio complete another comeback victory against Torino this time. Up to Juventus to maintain the gap against Genoa in the late match tonight.

Some drama in the Spal match

    Superb watch so far

Man what a game in Spal

    so much drama

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

Looking at the stats Milan had 39 shooting attempts and 51 crosses, yeesh that is wasteful. SPAL did deserve the draw at least. The equaliser was a very unfortunate own goal. I fell asleep watching West Ham & Chelsea so missed the first half hour of it.

Atalanta vs Napoli tomorrow evening at 6.30 should be a good watch.

Shame so few watch the games here. Most of the matches are very good. Especial as they are streamed free on Livescore app, and the stream is very good.

People are just stuck in their ways that the Italian league is poor. They don't know the players, the stadiums aren't 100% full and they don't have the sky hype so they don't tune in. The Italian league has been far more entertaining than the English league this year. I would gladly watch Atalanta over any English team.

Have to say AC Milan have been very impressive and deserve the lead
