Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

There seems to be a lot of talk about how we need Keita. I know nothing about the player, but on Wikipedia I am surprised to see he seems to have quite a high goals to games ratio for what I assumed was a defensive midfielder.

We have enough midfielders that are better going forward than they are sitting and protecting. I hope we (as in those involved in transfer targets) have this in their minds when they are putting together a shopping list with Klopp.

We really do not need another box-to-box or attacking midfielder before we sign a for-purpose defensive, intelligent, reliable, positionally sound player to protect our defense.

He's not a defensive midfielder, he just has defensive stats that are incredibly impressive.

He's a centre mid, gets forward a lot and contributes with key passes and goals, but is also incredibly effective at winning the ball back.

He could probably do a very decent job playing where Henderson plays but would be somewhat wasted there I feel.

All action centre mid - his stats from last season are pretty unparalleled when it comes to just having an incredibly well rounded game, fairly standout in almost every area.

I would see him as an upgrade to Wijnaldum. Wijnaldum is a very good player and certainly good enough to start for where we are now. But he shouldn't really be more than a squad option for a team aiming to win a league / challenge for the CL.

That's why I'd be definitely happy to wait until next summer for Keita. No point spending big on someone who as it the level of players we already have. We should hopefully have enough decent players here for the moment, and hopefully add Keita either in January or the summer.

If Leipzig don't progress in the CL I could see it being in January for about 55-60m

Nothing like whopping a team on a European night in Anfield to lift the gloom a bit.

Today is my birthday and I received an automated email from LFC.com

No big deal I though but then I looked at it and saw it was a recorded video of Klopp with a generic message, he then warns you to stop watching before he sings happy birthday.

    What a nice touch!

Cascarino now saying Klopp won't be at Liverpool for long because he's so intense. Where does he get it from?

And just to top it all off he didn't even bother wishing Zapp a happy birthday! The basstid!

Perhaps he's basing it off how intense his birthday card from LFC was this year

Yeah, cos Fergie, one of the longest tenuring managers in the history of the game, was a light and breezy character, was he.

You don't get to the top of anything without being intensely dedicated to it, imo. Pep, Mourinho, Conte, even Wenger, they are all intense individuals who eat, sleep and breath football, giving more hours a day to a singular thing that most people can comprehend.

The upper echelon of any field most likely have a border line crazy obsession about their chosen careers.

Also, Klopp knows how to laugh and doesn't let the circus get to him too much. He is only that intense during the 90 mins...

Draxler is being linked as part of the deal to bring Mbappe to PSG £138m cash and Draxler.

Draxler to Monaco sounds just about plausible but if I were him I'd not want to be the make-weight in that sort of deal. What can they pay him?

  • Registered Users Posts: 861 ✭✭✭jbt123

It's great to be back where we belong and where we should be. I don't think we should fear any group as I feel our European pedigree and under Klopps guidance I feel we can really have a successful foray back with the elite..

Having said that 3 teams I would prefer to avoid in the group stages are Both Madrid clubs and Juventus. I'm not too concerned about anyone else. I think we can give Barca and PSG a right go..

    So bring it on.......

What ever they pay him it will be tax free and to live in Monaco I can see why that would be tempting to anyone.
