Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Great to get Sevilla again.

Can't be the only one looking for the lads to make up for that **** show in the UEFA cup.

Nice draw in fairness. Spurs group should have some cracking games

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,477 ✭✭✭✭Knex*

Despite what Klopp says, any potential signings seeing that group would surely be encouraged by Liverpool's prospects of getting through to the knockout stages.

Happy with that draw. No reason to think we shouldn't be at least in the mix.

Great draw for us, likewise United.

Spurs got screwed. Ronaldo will be already marking the calendar to pluck the eye-brows the night before his trip to Wembley.

Just went looking at the final groups. Spent ages trying to find Arsenal in the list before I realized.

    Ha.

Can we draw City/ Utd/ Tottenham/ Chelsea in the quarter finals?

I was hoping Celtic might be drawn in one of the English teams groups :(

There will be a lot of good games !

    Klopp's reaction:

The draw was exciting – to be part of it is obviously really special. We watched with a few of the lads together. There are groups with Barcelona, Bayern, Juventus and Real Madrid, and not to get them is of course more good than bad. But I don’t think that after this long way we should think about the opponents. We have to go and prepare. With Sevilla, there is an open bill, I would say. But we all know how good they are in European competition. Moscow is a long trip. And Maribor, in this moment you don’t know a lot about them; a lot of people would underestimate them, we will not. So we don’t think about the opponent, we just think about the competition. We’ll analyse and take everything seriously – we want to go as far as possible. But it’s the Champions League, so that means they all earn our 100 per cent respect, how we earn 100 per cent respect from them. That’s what we will show and hopefully we have a few really good games, which we 100 per cent need.

    On preparing for the ties…

We will see. We will plan it probably from tomorrow on. We will take as much information. Maybe we can send the guys there. The Russian league has played seven games already, so that’s probably an advantage for them – they have rhythm and all that stuff. Spain had one matchday, I don’t know about Slovenia. We’ll probably send people there and watch them; we can get enough games of theirs, that’s not a problem in the world of football. We will know everything until we play them and we will be prepared 100 per cent.

we somehow managed to avoid getting any of Real Madrid, Bayern, Juventus, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, PSG, and Dortmund, while being drawn from Pot 3.

I was'nt feeling that pleased with the draw until i read your post! Delighted now.

Have utd ever got a hard draw in the groups of the CL....ever?

I was actually discussing this in work with an Arsenal fan earlier.

'You gonna watch the draw later?'

    'It's on tomorrow.'

    'No it's this evening.'

    'It's tomorrow...Europa league,remember?'

Why doesn't he put dykke on his jersey

Barca agreed terms with Di Maria and looks like a €50m deal with PSG will be done soon.

Hopefully that puts an end to them looking for Coutinho this summer.

Group E: Spartak Moskva (RUS), Sevilla (ESP), Liverpool (ENG), Maribor (SVN)

Hard to argue with that draw lads. Naturally, we won't make it easy for ourselves, but you'd have to think we'd be favourites with Sevilla to progress.

Another one off the list - Juventus are just brilliant at picking up talented no nonsense players in their late 20s.

Cue certain posters getting up in arms about not signing a player we probably weren't in for anyway.

That's a good fixture list - avoids any chance of a horrid blizzardly night in Moscow. Hopefully the qualification will be decided by 9.45 on November 1st.

Juventus in for Howedes, apparently. They get all the established bargains.

Dont have a rashers about Howedes but if an Italian team wants him, he must be a useful defender

Hardly riveting tv though. Next round could be epic though as most groups have two huge clubs in them, and they'd expect to go through, so if we can make it, and United too, then it's shaping up for some classic encounters.
