Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

That would be a bit much I would think.

Anyway, he will get a full preseason under his belt and will probably be moving over end of May.

Origi's father is in the press saying his son needs to leave to get games.

He is saying Spurs are interested along with clubs in France and Germany.

Send him to Monaco as part of the Lemar deal!

    Off to Monaco hopefully.

It'd be best for him to go on loan and get to start 25+ games.

Rumours floating around that Monaco arent up for selling Lemar.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,163 ✭✭✭messinkiapina

I'm glad we're getting Keita, but I also think it's a bit of a weird deal. I would love to know how much this 'premium' is.

I'm torn on it, I guess the club have no choice and they're doing the right thing, but it also feels like we're being shaken down because we're not Barcelona or Madrid. I know, I know... Never happy.

    Joyce says it's only 3m.

Pretty sure I read one of the "reliable" journalists on Twitter say it's 3M.

The people reporting that Monaco aren't selling are apparently not all that reliable. Joyce said early they'll be looking for around €100m, if they've named a price it means they'll sell. I doubt Liverpool will offer near that but maybe we can negotiate them down.

    German press running:
€75 million if RB get into the CL next year
€70 million if they reach the Europa League
€65 million if they miss out on both

RMC: Fabinho to PSG dead, will likely remain at AS Monaco (great choice, as he's the player they actually need!)

If that's true, and that's a big if, it should make it more likely that Lemar would be left move.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,056 ✭✭✭SuperTortoise

I was meaning to say this yesterday but Milner done nothing wrong when he came on, was'nt shy with putting himself about and getting stuck in, would he be a better option as a holding MF than Hendo?

I was never thrilled at the notion, one of those deals where everyone has to pretend to be pleased while fearing the worst, esp at 35m quid.

Sakho close to a move to Palace for £25m.

Would really worry him against speedy attackers breaking through the lines though. Could see a striker or number 10 holding just wide of him, comfortable enough that they can get the run across him. He doesn't have the pace he used to anymore.

Good option for certain games though, like Lucas was in the same role.

Given fees this summer £25m is a bargain for Sakho they'd have no hope of getting a defender of that quality anywhere else.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,163 ✭✭✭messinkiapina

    Joyce says it's only 3m.

Really? In that case I've zero problem with it. I was imagining they were getting the 70m we previously bid for him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,068 ✭✭✭Tipsy McSwagger

Would take Ox no problem. Under a manager like Klopp he would turn into a very good player.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,928 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

We have increased our bid to €70m for Lemar.

Hmmm, do we really want to take the chance on missing out on this generation's Jermaine Jenas? I mean, he could go on to be almost as good as Chris Bart Williams. We'll look like mugs, I tell you, MUGS.

Yeah I realise that we'll end up playing different styles / lineups in the cups. But what I'm interested in is our ability to do what needs to be done in the primary two competitions, and Ings is a non factor in that if we're all being honest about it.

Not entirely. If we don't have adequate cover for our starters we will end up using them too much and they will suffer from fatigue like last season around Jan. Therefore Ings is not a non factor in our pursuit of glory in the main 2 comps.

We have increased our bid to €70m for Lemar.

And it still won't get him. Where was this bid two months ago? FSG absolutely excel at making a big song and dance about trying to get players and utterly failing to do so.

"We're trying to spend money, honest." Shame they never seen to quite manage it.

Klopp could turn him around and could make him a real player. Chelsea will get him and he'll be on loan at West Ham in a couple of seasons.

Yea but he wont join until next season. A great signing but he doesnt help us now.

We need the quality in now. Hopefully van dijk and lemar can be done. We would be a serious side if they do come in

I'll believe it when he's leaning in a red shirt. It's a canny moneyball signing alright but It still won't do anything to address the holes in the squad that have been there for two transfer windows and that will be there when the inevitable happens and Coutinho leaves on deadline day.

    2 questions:
    1. What would you say if he signed for ManUTD, Spurs or Barca next summer???

    2. Do you understand what Klopp is saying when he says this is a project over a number of seasons???

No-one's saying that, but lets not pretend that buying a player for next season fixes two transfer windows in which we've failed to address the massive problems in defence, or that it's still very likely that we'll lose out best player without replacing him.
