Yeah I don't disagree. Just worth pointing out that is very easy to get a name for yourself even when not justified.

Seve, I think you're being treated unfairly and the rule requiring you to enter 3 comps is crazy altogether.

However, this could be one of those situations where you may win the battle but lose the war. Ultimately you need to decide if you're going to be there for the next 10, 20, 30 years or whatever. Golf clubs are small places and you can be pretty sure already everyone in the club will have heard a "version" of your story, especially as you mentioned the club are aware of this thread. I've seen it several times before, although it wasn't to do with prizes. Now, you may not give a hoot what people think, some do, some don't, each to their own.

Yes, principles and fairness are important and I'm all for sticking up for oneself, especially when its as blatant as this, but there'd be a huge danger of the uninformed masses thinking of you as THAT guy. Rightly or wrongly, mud tends to stick unfortunately, and it'll be important who gets to set the narrative.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do, but if it was me I think I'd either vote with my feet in January or just say "f--k it, it is what it is" and move on.

I used to think that myself and never complained at my club, was a member 5 years roughly.. Than had a pain in my nuts with certain things and said fcuk this I joining somewhere else next year.. Even though my club is on my doorstep and its a great course (can always get out and in good nick etc) So for the remainder of the year I spoke out when I wasn't happy about something! and I actually got a lot of respect of committee members and club members made some good friends who see my name on the time sheet now and put theirs down etc

Now if I need something done via the secretary she does it instead of fobbing me off! Its weird it had a totally opposite effect than I was expecting but in a positive way! I actually feel part of a club now! more so than my mate who's from the area and would know most of the members + is a member much longer than me and its a very clingy club in Kildare and I'm a Dub :D

While I was away, the committee replied to my email. I wrote if from my work email address as opposed to my personal one which they have on my members record. I was disapointed they didn't have the courtesy to pick up the phone to me or at the very least forward it on to my personal address, especially as they would have received an out of office reposnse. They sent it on the Thursday night following the Medal.

I also received the club rules from the Director of Golf. They are amateurly prepared compared to rules I have seen for other organisations and as a result are unclear in parts, omit relevant information and really lack professionalism. But the rule is there and states this.

I really do not think that is clear enough and I was unsure as it fails to mention Medals, but I had my suspicions and the email I received from the committee confirmed those suspicions.

So really it gets worse. You are not allowed to win ANY competition, until you have competed in 3.
In my opinion that is encouraging handicap cheating, why bother try if you can't win, so just go out and get .1 back.
Imagine saying to a European tour member, sorry you shot the best score but you can't win this because you just upgraded from the Challenge tour. Is this situation really any different? I think not.

They also mention precedent. I considered not posting these pics, but they are only screen grabs from a free publically available website so it's info already out there in cyberspace.

I ask you was I treated with the same prededent? It appears not to me.

do you know that the situation is the exact same - that he wasn't eligible - as he doesn't have an NQ beside him

i've been told there was precedent of the exact situation that happened to me

except I do also know the precedent case, the member was a brand spanking new member in the door and hadn't been a 5 day with a playing record like myself
