Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I think my head may have melted.

Did it this morning, found it very difficult. Not looking forward to the results, anyone know when they are out?

  • Registered Users Posts: 853 ✭✭✭Idjit

That numerical fried me. But everyone seems to have struggled so I'm hoping the pass rate will be low enough that I can squeeze in. :o

Can I ask what your basis for this statement is?

I bought the package from jobtestprep and they mention it in the instructions that you will not get points if the wrong tab is open. I also did the supervised HEO back in April and this question came up. The invigilator refused to answer the question, so you can take that anyway you want. I played it safe and tried to have the correct tab open while answering. Even for the repeat questions.

Anyway.... the deadline has passed. Was I the only one that answered the majority of questions with false or cannot say?

I did mess up on at least one numerical question on expenses and I referred to the income tab instead.

So, when time is running out, and some applicants just click on answers for the sake of answering, it's pointless if they haven't chosen a (also correct) tab?

    It's possible.

I dont think that is the case. I did the exact same test for the Senior EO about 4 months ago. Same tabs and paragraphs. I cant say for sure that the questions where the exact same but for the Verbal part I got to question 40 with one minute to spare and I just randomly guessed the last 9 answers. I scored 7300 out of 8000 for that portion of the test so I dont think you need to have been on the correct tab when selecting the answer.

Luckilly I got to answer all maths and verbal questions this time around without any wild guessing

No defo not! Loads of Cannot Says at least. I found that loads of the questions kept asking about comparisons to financial years that weren't there!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,049 ✭✭✭gazzer

Yeah loads of Cannot Says for sure

    Impressive!

    Impressive!

Well to be honest it is only because this is my 4th aptitude test in 18 months. The passages in the Verbal and Numeric where the same for each test so each time I do this test I get that bit quicker. First time I have been able to complete them all in the alloted time without guessing the last few.

  • Registered Users Posts: 194 ✭✭Derco

Found that one tough. Missed the last few in the verbal reasoning.

    Hopefully we'll hear tomorrow!

I'd be surprised if we didn't hear today!!! A week is short notice enough for getting time off and arranging travel etc.

I don't expect to get through to the next round due to my woeful tests but would like to be put out of my misery!!!

Best of luck to everyone :-)

+1. I'm not sure how I did since I was abroad and had to use a public library computer to do the exam. It all worked fine, so I still gave it my best shot!

    Good luck everyone.

Hi guys, I placed number 45. I’m in shock because I didn’t do too well in the AO tests the last time they came around!

Does anybody know what the maximum score is in each of the tests?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,301 ✭✭✭✭gerrybbadd

Failed it. Got seriously high marks for verbal and numerical competencies, but was below par on the management scenario. I hate those things. I can never pass them!

Just for the lol's, this time around, I said i'd try answering differently to how I normally would. Made no difference. I don't know what they are looking for in those things!

    8,000 in all 3 sections.

    Well done! :)

Ah I'm sorry gerrybbadd, I failed in exactly the same way last year. I answered more or less the same this year and got through. It's hard to second guess these things.
Moving to a new area earlier in the year might have given me a different spin on things to where I was last year.

The best advice I got is to answer in line with the competencies that they give you in the information booklet. As serving civil servants, we all have different ideas and experiences of what different grades do in the departments we've been in, and we're probably using those to colour our answers, but they all might be very different than what is written in the actual competencies.

Why arent numerical scores inc. For ranking? It was by far my highest score

Because they think men are much better at numerical tests than women which is absolute nonsense

    Got through too! Woo hoo.

It's mad - I did REALLY well in the mgt scenario last competition (I think it was 782/800) but did average this time. Still through, but isn't it mad how much of a variance you can get!
