Hi. I am getting imagine broadband put into my house. There will be a box outside on the wall and then a cable has to be brought into the house and connected to a router when is in turn connected to a socket . What kind of cable is being brought in. Would I have an existing cable of the same type already going to a socket from the attic. House is 7 years old and wired decently at the time.

Unlikely you already have the cable which I assume is Cat5 or Cat6 Ethernet cable.
