Holiday in donegal

Hello,

Me and boyfriend are heading to donegal next week for 5 days.

Any suggestions on an itinerary.

Enjoy the outdoors, walks cycles etc. Not interested in shopping or big towns.

Bringing the bikes so would be interested in a 80-120km loop, any suggestions?

Any recommendations on places to spend the night, not too expensive ?

I'd suggest Inishowen, they have a loop called the Inishowen 100 http://www.discoverireland.ie/Activities-Adventure/inishowen-100/10824

It's slightly longer than you're talking about, but you don't have to do the full 100 miles, some nice places to stop for a night on the way. The main towns on it are Buncrana, Carndonagh and Moville, (Derry is at the end of it too) but there are other lovely small places to check out such as Ballyliffin, Malin Head and Greencastle. The scenery is beautiful.

I too was going to recommend Inishowen, but I am slightly biased!

It will give you a chance to come up around Malin Head, scenery stunning up here and plenty of cheap places to stay and eat. Derry city not far away too if you would like to visit. Good beaches as well in Culdaff and Malin.

I seen McGrorys Hotel in Culdaff had a good end of summer offer on FB earlier this morning. Its a nice, cosy hotel, with good food and bar, entertainment and Culdaff beach is a close walk away, and its a fantastic beach. Worth calling them to see what deals they can offer you.

Another place to stay close by would be the Red Gate House B&B, a stunning property on outskirts of Malin village, it gets rave reviews and has a pool.

The Inishowen 100 loop has been mentioned. I think there is also a loop within it, which is 60 or 70.
Derry is improving for cycle paths too, if you wanted to cycle into Derry from your base.
Derry is great for cheap food and drink too. Plus a walk around its walls is worthwhile.

Take a look at some of the previous threads in the forum as there are a few of them on places to stay, where to eat, where to visit etc.

Also google "cycling routes Donegal" and you will get some additional info there.
