Anyone have any opinions on the VR ready rigs for sale by littlewoods.ie?

Can't post links as i'm a new user but i've been looking at this one on littlewoods.ie

Cyberpower Enforcer VR Intel® Core™ i5, 8Gb RAM, 2Tb HDD, VR-Ready Gaming PC with 6Gb NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Graphics

It's €1240 all in, just seeing if anyone has any opinions on it's specs and if it's good value?

    Rip-off price tbh.

    Here's a much better deal:

    OMEN by HP 870-260na - Tower - 1 x Core i5 7400 / 3 GHz - RAM 8 GB - SSD 128 GB, HDD 1 TB - DVD-Writer - GF GTX 1060
    €980

If you want a tiny machine, you could also consider this:
    ASUS ROG GR8 II T017Z - Mini PC - 1 x Core i5 7400 - RAM 8 GB - HDD 1 TB - GF GTX 1060
    €1045.50

Dell Inspiron 5675 is better value too (especially if you want to bat for AMD)
    Ryzen 5-1400, 8Gb RAM, 256Gb SSD + 1Tb HDD, Radeon RX570 4Gb - €999
    Ryzen 5-1400, 8Gb RAM, 256Gb SSD + 1Tb HDD, Radeon RX580 8Gb - €1079

You don't need more than 8Gb RAM for gaming, but it's the easiest component to upgrade at a later date.

Yeah, in general, avoid littlewoods for tech. They are always way above what you should be paying.

I wouldn't like a 1060 for VR, surely that's at the lowest acceptable end, along with the 290 or 970

I'm not the best at the tech side, but from searches online the minimum spec for the vive is the 970 and the recommended is anything 1060 or higher.

Anyone have any suggestions for a better rig for VR that won't need to be upgraded for a couple of years? Would be looking to spend about €1200 - €1300. Little bit of wriggle room if the quality is significantly better

    Cheers

With that money you are in GTX1070 territory which is significantly faster. The 1060 is not much faster than the GTX970 though it does have a lot more vram (assuming the 6GB version, which also has a faster core than the 3GB GTX1060)

    Incorrect.

The GTX 1060 is faster than the GTX 970 (on-par with 980), though the 970 has more overclocking headroom.

    Have you looked at PCSpecialist?

    How is that incorrect?

I said 'not much faster' not that it was no faster - which is completely true, it basically sits between the 970 and 980 in most games.

There is most definitely not enough difference that the 970 could be a 'minimum' for VR and the 1060 be the 'recommended' as mentioned above - the performance is both is very similar.

Is there any particular reason you are buying a Vive? I'm not fanboying or trying to start an argument with our Vive VR bro's but even most people on the r/vive subreddit would say that at current prices where Oculus Rift is half the price of the Vive, anyone would be mad to buy a Vive.
