Can anyone recommend a reliable satellite broadband supplier? I have no landline and no fibre in the area. I'm currently with Rocket/Skytel but the speeds can be shocking. I have their 30Mb package, but speed test results of 2-3Mb are commonplace

I've tried Imagine, but they are not taking any new customers on the Forth Mountain station. Price is not an issue if I can get a strong consistent supply.

    Cheers

I've found that if you call Skytel and tell them you are leaving due to bad signal, they suddenly (and magically) sort the issue.

We had a long running problem with them and then suddenly (and at the same time we said we were leaving) it was fixed and the connection is very good now.

Same here, but I'm getting sick & tired of having to ring them all the time. Usual excuses. Strength is fine for a week and then they dilute it down again

A lot of Barntown is scheduled to be covered by FTTH by Eir http://fibrerollout.ie/rollout-map/. If you are in the coverage area, I'd be inclined to wait for it to go live rather than sign up to a new contract with someone else.
I'm on Imagine (North Wexford though). It works grand but my mast isn't full. With a full mast, you may have some serious contention.

Having said that, as fibre rolls out, people will surely move from Imagine to it so the mast should start freeing up again. If you aren't in a fibre scheduled area, ask to be notified when there is a free spot.

Satellite broadband would be an absolute last resort.

Would you believe the contractor ran a line outside my house yesterday. I'll be getting on to them for a go live date shortly. Happy days

It was. The existing line I had could only sustain 1Mb

Doesn't matter if the stream freezes, as long as it's at the right place

Sister of mine is near Barntown (on Fort Mountain) and got confirmation yesterday that fibre broadband will be available from Oct 4th.
Eir are calling house to house doing a pre sale offer at the moment
