Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi, hoping someone can put this into laymans language and give a bit of insight into the trend. It's from INM press release ahead of their AGM.

“Growth has primarily come from programmatic advertising and INM’s classified businesses as digital advertising yield continues to be impacted by growth in mobile traffic and the move away from direct transactional selling,”

“Growth has primarily come from programmatic advertising and INM’s classified businesses as digital advertising yield continues to be impacted by growth in mobile traffic and the move away from direct transactional selling,”

In short, their in house sales teams are selling less high value, display advertising campaigns to advertising agencies and companies because
    1. there are less people visiting the desktop sites so they can't serve up as many ads as previously
    2. users are moving to mobile and mobile screens are too small for the big, high value display campaigns

Revenue growth is coming from two areas - programmatic and classified sites
    1. Programmatic ads are the promoted links you see at the bottom of articles on Independent.ie. They are typically low cost, cost per click ads that are pushed out across a network of sites. It's very much commodity pricing and doesn't have the same yield as display campaigns
    2. Classified - INM's car site CarsIreland.ie is doing quite well apparently
