Hey, I'm hoping someone might be able to help me.

I'm playing the latest God of War and at the start when playing first time I adjusted brightness where you can barely see the letters like they ask you to do. It was fine all game but now I'm in at a section where it's so dark I actually can't see anything and want to change the brightness settings and I don't know how without restarting the game. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Been too long since I played, but found this while googling:
To change between Resolution and Frame Rate you’ll want to press the Options button. This will bring up the main menu with things like the Map, Weapons, Armor, Skills, etc. At the bottom of the screen you’ll see an icon for Options next to the Triangle button. Press Triangle, which will bring up another smaller menu screen. From here you can tab down to settings. This will open up yet another menu where you need to open the Video tab.

I assume the settings for Brightness should be in the same menu

Fair enough, I get where ye are all coming from. But that's the bar these days. How could Netherealm come out with an MK that isn't more detailed or gorier than the last? They can't blame technical limitations anymore, and if there's no progress the series gets labelled as stale, which it had when it didn't change much around the UMK3 days. The move to 3D was slow and it took a few games but they polished it up and released Deadly Alliance, which brought freshness and increased gore to it. Mow on a few years and it's now a fairly popular technical fighting game looking to compete with other eSport titles. I believe it has a fairly strong following.

Anyway, point is, I don't know where MK can go if not for more realism.

Was waiting on the wife to start up Animal Crossing, sadly this led me to reading more about it.

Nintendo are either gods of Video Games and Local Multiplayer or Absolute Idiots with no knowledge of the year. There really is no in between with them.

I cant understand who or why they thought it was a good idea to handicap a local coop game.

Playing Control. I love how it plays. Brilliant, satisfying gameplay. But the story is a pile of convoluted mumbo-jumbo with some of the worst lore pick-ups I've ever seen in a game.

I'm in a strange spot with a single-player game where I wanna keep playing but I have zero interest in the story or its outcome.

They could make their female characters look nice again and not feck up their PC ports. That'd certainly help. Not having a 30fps lock on fatalities. Not dumping half their budget into the QTE story modes. Not releasing trailers with crap, unfitting rap music.

That's strange? :pac: I've got 740hrs in Tekken and didn't complete the story mode because it was gunk. Doesn't matter in the slightest though.

Can't say I'm a fan of the whole "shared island" either. Should have been optional.

People actually liked Deadly Alliance? It was okay but felt like a cheap budget knock off of better games and it was horribly broken even at a casual fighting level. The surprisingly great MK9 is where I felt the series got it's mojo back.

I enjoyed the hell out of MK11, but not for the blood n' guts, I'm well past finding that to be a selling point and if anything it becomes a bit tedious after a while. But as a fighting game series I loved each of the last three MK games. I know it's not the best fighting game series, but I find it the most enjoyable. Used to be a big Tekken fan but it just hasn't evolved at all really.
They could make their female characters look nice again

How do you mean "nice"? I thought the female character designs in MK11 are great, maybe with the exception of Sonya's face which is a horrible mashup of Sonya MKX and Ronda Rousey.

I played the earlier MK games but Deadly Alliance was the first one I owned. It was decent, the different fighting styles & weapons you could switch between kept it interesting as a casual player. I enjoyed the three 3d games, but MK9 was definitely the right move for the series.

I'm addicted to Red Dead Online and I don't know why. Picked it up in the sale having not played it since the beta. I log in each day to do my dailies, something I never usually care about, and perform some hunting and bounties to rank up my Trader and Bounty Hunter roles. I still have to try the Moonshiner and Collector roles and there's rumours of another big update coming.

It's extremely ****ing satisfying delivering a wagon full or goods and bringing in a bounty, getting gold from dailies and saving towards a new role. On paper, these activities should not be fun but I can't stop doing them. I know RDR 2 gets a bad rep but I highly recommend trying the Online if anyone has it and hasn't played in a while.

Don't you dare make me come out of my self-entitled boycott of everything related to Rockstar's "Online Universe" :pac: You're selling me, slowly

I had mostly been playing Divison 2, fast paced and tons of loot. I thought I would dip in and out of both but haven't gone back to Division since getting sucked into RDR Online. Completely different experience from GTA Online. In that, I never did dailies and no interest in the different roles, just found them boring to do. In RDR Online, I play mostly PVE unless someone kills my horse and just completely absorbed in the world. I absolutely hate hunting in games but for some reason I have this drive to rank up my trader role. Lots to buy with money so I'm constantly trying to get more money for items and gold for roles so it's a constant goal. If I get an hour playtime, I do some dailies, do some hunting and some bounties. I might rank up 1 level in each area, not gain much but I end up having a truly satisfying session which is most important I think.

    Give it a go :D

    1. Tit ninjas are great and why shouldn't we want them in this FANTASY universe?

    2. NRS models and animations the last few years have been undeniably dodgy. Remember Wonder Woman???

Capcom went the same for a while. I mean Ken was so bad he became a meme. I say there should be no problem calling out bad artwork where bad artwork exists.

    1. But does that make for bad character design? If a female character is, god forbid, clothed... Is that bad character design? Is the character model not "nice" because of that? I get that in previous games some of the female characters were incredibly "nice", but is the game somehow now worse off just because they're reasonably covered up? Should a game have scantily clad women just because it's set in a fantasy universe?

    2. They definitely screw up on some of the faces here and there. Even Supergirl in I2 just seemed off, especially in cutscenes. But in fairness NRS are always going for a much more realistic style than most other fighting games, and I think they get it right far more often than not.

In this era of broadband, easily available porn of all stripes, orientations and fetishes, is the prospect of boob-laden women in video games really that important? Heck half of cosplay shared on outlets is borderline softcore, looking at conventions or whatnot. Tits & Ass in MK feels like a redundant cling on from those adolescent, page 3 days of gaming.

See that's the thing for me; it's not about whether a game has half-naked women or not. If that's what's in the game, that's what's in the game. It's judging a game for not having those things.

The idea that a game is less good because "The female characters in the game have too much clothing on"... That's just sad.

Sure, why not? If they're going to fit in with the setting anywhere it'll be there. Having a perfectly normal & respectably dressed woman having a conversation with like, Shao Khan or something isn't going to look right is it? Likewise if they went back to Conan and changed Arnold so he had a tracksuit and hoodie on, it wouldn't feel right right either. Now if TLOU2 comes out and Ellie appears in the first scene wearing a g-string and titty tape then I'd say you have a point. But not here.
And as if we should be looking to treat the videogame MORTAL KOMBAT as some type of great example of modern sensibility to be lauded. I think it's so weird that some people see them covering up Kitana and are like, oh great now I won't have to be ashamed :pac:

It's like that guy on here the other day complaining about the gore and item pickups in DOOM. I mean, is there no place for any fun to be had in games anymore? Damn it I'm a normal human male and I have no problem with titty ninjas. And I still have the balls to say so.

It's about having the conviction to still go for it.

I have massive respect for what Capcom have just done with Jill's new redesign for example. I bet it didn't go down well in Japan, but they understood what the character should be. I think she looks great.

Likewise I had the same respect for NRS with MK9. Those girls were outlandish, but that's what they were meant to be.

Again though, I have no issue with that being in games, my question is does the absence of it make a game worse by default? As inferred by Robert Ninja's post; would having the female characters in MK11 barely-clothed have made it a better game, all else being equal?

Aw sure it's fine to mutilate women in these games but don't you dare ask for older design style or better faces - that's going too far and you should just go watch porn.

Well presumably you don't want the skimpy clothes for some fashion tips. So yeah, hardly an outragous guess that you miss the mild, passive arousal from looking at (pre) rendered T&A. Not judging either way either - we're all vital creatures - I just wouldn't call it a dealbreaker on a game otherwise about beating the tar (or indeed the blood) out of each other.

There's always classic costume picks right? So the user can get over that aspect themselves. That's very low on the priority list when it comes to graphics and design of the game for me. The faces are #1, 2nd to that are the bodies and 3rd to that is the 30fps lock on in-fight cinematics.

I wouldn't either. If you read my original post about this there was more than one reason I dropped the series. And that wasn't even mentioning the micro-transactions for fatalities. It's ridiculous get woke about the women when they're getting sliced to ribbons and half the men look like they're about to start a porno shoot themselves. The whole game is insane violence and unrealistic crap happening. The last game I liked was MK9 but I didn't exactly think the girls looked anyway good there, either. Mileena was probably the only one whose proportions and style made sense but all the faces were still bad. But the latest games...

Well, yes, considering the intended audience. I mean, have you ever been involved in the FGC? That kind of thing goes down VERY well. And not so well when it is taken away.

Has the MK FGC seen any discernible drop in numbers because the women aren't as scantily-clad though? I get some might complain about it at first, but again my point is that I don't think anyone judges the game based on that factor, or would be so put off by that fact that they'd be put off buying the game. If they are, well then yeah, it does come down to "There's porn on the internet".

There are much bigger issues people, in my experience, legitimately had with MK11. The Kombat Pack fighters being so spaced out that the last character was only released recently. The Krypt being a major grindfest. Rewards were insanely unbalanced at the start to the point a lot of people were setting up their own AI and just letting it grind in the background. Insanely unfair modifiers in many of the towers.

I don't think many in the FGC saw any of that and thought "My main issue is when Scorpion slices across Cassie's chest it doesn't open her top up so I can see a slight bit of titty"

Again for me it just comes down to this idea that a game could be deemed worse if the women aren't sexual enough. If the developers choose not to put that in the game, that's their choice. But does it affect the game? Does it really affect anyone's enjoyment of the game? Would anyone who wouldn't have bought the game done so if you could see more of the side of Kitana's leg?
