Cheers. I keep meaning to play them every time I hear comparisons to Zelda and/or Prince of Persia.
Now just have to redeem the code to a US account.

Don't get me wrong, I loved both Darksiders games but with respect to the sequel, don't go in expecting a Zelda game. Sure it takes some elements from it as it moves from the more linear adventure in the first game but the comparisons should really end there for your own sake. :)

Saw that post on Reddit, downvoted the sh!t out of it for being obtuse and disingenuous

Baring in mind the post title was
People are talking about how Singleplayer games are already dead. These are Singleplayer focused games released in 2017

    https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/78w8xa/people_are_talking_about_how_singleplayer_games/?utm_content=comments&utm_medium=hot&utm_source=reddit&utm_name=gaming

Man I hate r/gaming. 90% of the posts are just inane statements written on pictures.

Yup, like this front page tripe.

In fact usually the comments are better than the OP

    I enjoyed this response:

So the anti preorder circle jerk has reached critical mass so that the pendulum swings over to the other side now. Its funny how you can beat a drum with a good message but if it becomes annoying then people will turn on it. I feel that the people who agree with these sentiment are the same types to not vote but complain about who is in office or the types of policy changes.
Its almost defeatist. "there's nothing I or we can do about it so we might as well succumb". This is how they win!!
Its kinda like the movie A Bugs Life in a sense. We outnumber them 10 fold yet we take what they give to us as if we cant rise up and take a stand. People would rather to keep forking over their hard earned seeds than to make them smarten up and give us something we all really want.
So what they throw us a bone every once in a while and give us a game that the general public cant really complain about but why do we let these big companies get away with steering the market to a place they would rather be? Why cant we try and steer it back to a place that's more consumer friendly? No one cares to, yet all want to gripe. Whats the point of coming on here to gripe if you wont do anything about it? Do you just want an echo chamber to feed you the same thing back so you feel justified? I just don't get it.

    How so?

    Oh boy...

Some of the games don't actually even have their scores attached (Pokemon and Xenoblade)
A few of them are expansion packs, so I just find including them a bit obtuse and misleading
Injustice 2 is in there, which is a reach
Fire Emblem has a score of 75.... 75 on Metacritic is a bordering on a critical/commercial flop ffs. Metacritic gives absolutete tripe games 60+
I don;t like the ham-fisted layout of the pictures
A lot of those games were released today, I can already see the OP hovering over the Metacritic reviews hammer F5, taking Day-1 Metacritic reviews as gospel that it's a GREAT game is nonsense (AC:O and Mario). Even if we KNOW Mario is amazing, I don't agree with including it.

Cut all that cr@p out and I would have just scrolled past it as yet another sh!t post. But with all that stuff trying to sway the OPs point in a way that skeeves me out, they get my downvote. I hope they learned their lesson

I see them talking about Observer on that thread and see it's on sale on the PS Store. Anyone try it out? Looks full of Bladerunner style goodness with a horror edge so it has me intrigued.

Never saw the appeal of Reddit being honest but ok each too there own I guess.

Oft times these points are just "Free will and individual opinions exist, don't listen to echo chambers.... well except THIS echo chamber"

Reddit is brilliant, so many interesting subs to sift through. Actual discussion is tricky though. Say something slightly controversial and you might get downvoted to oblivion rather than actually discussing/debating a point.

r/gaming is just memes and "EA are poopyheads, am I right?".

r/games has some good news and discussion sometimes.

 You're getting that from that image? I'm just seeing a badly laid out collage of single player games. Am I not plugged into the matrix properly?

I'm probably more jadded about this stuff than most as I do spent a lot of my time on Reddit and /r/gaming is one of the subs I'm subscribed to. Normally I just scroll past the stuff I've mentioned here cause I consider it utter garbage.

Likewise, I'm sure we all have similar "meta" criticisms about other sites.

Anyway, as I say, it's not all bad, this was on /r/gaming and it gave me a chuckle

That image about showing developers you care made me laugh.

$20 for multiple hours of gameplay.

    Multiple hours.

    Multiple.

As if that's what we should be aiming for.

The problem is, no one of note is saying something so inane as "Singleplayer games are already dead". There's a point that certain types of single player games are becoming riskier or, as the head XBox Publishing said,
"I do think the economics of taking a single-player game and telling a very high fidelity multi-hour story get a little more complicated. Gamers want higher fidelity and they want higher resolution graphics."

...but that that's not to say they won't still be made.

There's also numerous ways this can be offset, some projects can direct efforts to a single player experience rather than splitting time and resources on unnecessary multiplayer modes, some can aim to offer a tighter and more focused experience than their larger scale, more sprawling counterparts and others can simply avoid the expense that those kind of high fidelity single player titles require by designing games which, shockingly, don't require large quantities of high fidelity assets. Big budget, or high fidelity in this instance, has never and will never be a synonym for "great game" after all.

Even then, the topic is more nuanced than that, it simply doesn't apply to all games even in that bracket. There'll always be big budget games made by the platform holders because the purpose of those games, outside of making some money or at least their expenses back, is to promote the platform they're on and drive sales. Sony have nailed this by keeping a decent sized number of studios in their portfolio whose specific purpose is to develop games to do just that.

Ultimately, that image is a shallow argument against a point no one is making.

I'm not the one calling out some fairly innocuous images and bragging about how I had to downvote them. I think you care an awful lot more about this than I do. Yes, I do realise the irony of me responding but I thought I might have been missing something in that first image.

Since you pulled that image from /r/gaming, I'm sure you're aware it's sitting on a net 20k+ positive upvotes, you missed that I was being tongue in cheek with my humour about wielding my unleashing my mighty down-vote on them. It was a joke :pac:

I didn't post any images, you did.

If the upvote thing was a joke I didn't read it that way and apologise.
