Can a pin be used instead of face id on iphone x? If so, how is it entered? Press power button?

And where do you suggest they put all the sensors, camrta etc?

right where they are and just do what Samsung do and make the bezels vertical along it.

Wasn't that it didn't work. Same error as trying to use TouchID when you first power on the iPhone - it hadn't had pin code put in for first use when powered on.

I think on that model they didn't have it set up.
Note it said you need to enter your pin to enable faceid so obviously someone forgot to enter it after rebooting.

So to use Face ID you have to bring the phone up to right in front of your face.

It looks like when the phone was restarted the passcode wasn't entered as required on boot. He switched to a second phone and Face ID worked. If that happened to Steve he'd have personally killed the person responsible.

Hardly shocking? What did you expect to put in your pocket?

    Looks pretty good to me.

Why make a big deal? Things can go wrong and that's why they had a backup and it worked.

Things definitely went wrong for Jobs as well

Surprised the haven't done more on iOS to hide the notch at the top. Looks strange with such a lot of white throughout the OS.

It's not shocking, it's just exactly what I expected and the same as other facial auth things on the market.

It is far less intuitive than using a finger print because they have to make the action to unlock deliberate enough for it not to be done accidentally. Bringing your phone up in front of your face is nowhere near as good as just touching a button.

In this case it seems apple wanted to ditch the home button and face id was the best thing they could come up with to replace touchid.

It is nothing special and IMO a very regressive step from a user experience point of view, but they offset it with a very nice screen.

Based on the way it's setup with a rotation to detect different angles of your face. You won't have to raise it to head height or anything ridiculous.

Face ID not that great by the looks of it to me.

    Fingerprint was better I think.
