Biggest investment we can make in Lukaku is getting him a quality 10 to play behind him and create space for him. Was watching Eriksen and hinking that he is everything we need, not that Levy would sell him to us.

But that’s where the usual problems then crop up further back. Playing a 10 makes us play with two only in MF and we don’t have any players good enough to play that role alongside Matic.

I’d drop the traditional 10 idea and have Pogba somewhere deeper than that but ahead of the two behind him. That’s the formation I think that will solve a lot(not all) of the problems that keep cropping up with the balance of the team.

Considering recent posters stating he' not good enough and shoudln't be in the team

    MOTM for me

Ashley Young is one of those players who gets singled out if a bad result happens, regardless of his performance. Annoying

Young has been so good and there's such a difference in intent between him and Valencia

I actually think a 442 diamond formation would suit our players.

    DDG

    Valencia Bailly Rojo Young

    Matic

    Fellaini Pogba

    Mata/Lingard/Mkhi

    Lukaku/Ibra Rashford/Martial

Also, how good has Ashley Young been since coming into the team.. ****in hell.

Have to put my hand up and say I criticized him when he first came back into the team, but he was excellent today.

If Mata doesn't step up and Mkhitaryan continues to play to play at this level I'd say its coming eventually. I wouldn't be all that opposed to it, the silky number 10 works in many formations but it isn't a requirement.

    Where did he play today?

First game against actual top 4 contenders and we get 3 points.

    Can't be disappointed with that.

Mikhi very poor in first half but better in the second.

Young, much like Rocko last year, has been a revelation since getting a chance, hopefully he can keep it up.

Pogs back will make a huge difference with the link up play between DM & Rom.

Far from perfect but a great response to two lacklustre league outings.

    50 million down the drain,

    Tony Martial scores again!

    :D

Much better second half performance. Bit worried by Herreras and Mikis form though...

Played very well today and got into Alli's head. Speaking of Alli, why wasn't he booked for persistent acting the bollix. Got away with a clear dive at one stage, took Young out of it later on and still nothing.

Hood win that. Big three points and if we get something from Chelsea we'll be laughing.

37 games at home without a loss. 26 wins 11 draws. 0 conceded in 5 EPL games at home.

    Massive 3 points today.

still lacking a creative spark in the team, pogbas loss has been massive

also, has it rained at old trafford for every single home game this season??

    Mourinho though..

..Utd would be very popular with the media if he wasn't such a character.

It's something the PR team need to work on.

There is a player who I would love to see in the match day squads especially in the champions league where the group is nearly done mathematically.

    Angel Gomes

U20 World Cup is now over with him lifting and trophy as captain. I'd have him on the bench although with the big players coming back I doubt he will.

    No. No we wouldn't be.

And besides, given how easily Woody gets sponsorship deals, I don't think he's worried about pr.

    The under 17s?

Is he just back from injury because he didn't have much involvement in the business end of the tournament?

I'd say the encouragement of the booing at half time did the job there.

Who wants to be popular with the media?

Jose is a match made in heaven for United both are hated for been so successful...

I wouldn't change how he handles the media same way as it was the only thing I loved about LVG was the way he treated the media ohh and his Christmas dinner speech.

No one does Utd like he does these days. :)

If you're talking the talk that's all that matters in some places.

Utd are about results as ugly as they may be.

I'm not sure, he was either subbed on or off in the games I seen.

He is still a great prospect all the same

Yeah and could easily move to a three in game if you did the two split like that

Young definitely got the better of this exchange today. A win, MOTM and a verbal smackdown...

Ander played better yesterday too in the second half it was a big improvement on his recent performances.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,507 ✭✭✭clubberlang12

Perhaps I am being a bit harsh on him, but the more I watch Ander lately i fail to see what he is bringing to the team, what purpose he serves this season. I'm not even sure he is bringing the energy and drive he showed the last couple of seasons. He just seems to be too safe now, even with Matic playing along side him. He doesn't look to bring the ball forward enough. For me Matic, is far more effective at initiating forward play, by ether carrying the ball forward or looking for a forward pass. I would have thought Matic would have freed Ander up more. I only seem to recall him having 2 or 3 attempts on goal this season. Maybe it's a confidence thing, i don't know but i struggle to see him remaining an important player for us in any regard.

If Neymar keeps up this attitude, do you think this summer we make an offer. He doesn't seem happy. Wonder if we could do a deal, he wants to be king somewhere, but somehow just ends up a spoiled brat.

Based on his attitude if hate if we took him, people say Ronaldo was a prima donna, neymar is way worse
