Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Did he need to jump?

More or less yeah, as soon as the ball gets crossed in as a keeper you need to be in a position where you jump the absolute moment the attacking player makes contact with the ball, so if that had gone to the back post or lower down he could have made it too. Guys like DDG or VDS before him jump all the time and while at a glance it might look needless (often heard it referred to as keepers "making a meal of it for attention" etc), it's also why they're among the best for 'reaction' saves I've ever seen because they get ready to react before anything even happens. It's actually a really good trait.

Really looking forward to the game tonight, who wouldn't be?

Think every fan loves champions league football and we should be getting through our group this year.
Expecting a big game, despite the weather.

I am predicting that Lindelof and Smalling will play well and then throw us into a debate on who our starting CB pairings should be for next game.

Hopefully Mkhitaryan picks up where he left off with his European form, and hopefully Jose starts him more central.

Something about Basel I have always found a tricky customer for us, probably due to past slips, but we should definitely be winning this game and would be a great bounce back to continue our form before the break.

Martial v Liverpool, a great day for the parish all round.
What an evening. I watched the match in a bar in the Algarve, with a broad contingent of LFC fans (from Liverpool) surrounding me. A table of them beside me laughed and jeered whenever Fellaini got on the ball, but made the biggest 'hurray' of all when they saw Martial warming up and coming on. No bullshít lads, I watched them walk away, leaving a table of drinks behind them the moment that Martial hit the back of the net. I still haven't changed me boxers or have fully wiped the smile from my face yet!

Jimmy Liddel was in fine form too...

Cant wait to see United lining out to the Champions League anthem again.

Would really like to see a dominant performance and put Basel away early. Can imagine the players will be really up for this.

    3-0 win!!

Pogba captain, must be doing something right behind closed doors if Jose thinks he is captain material

A win is crucial tonight, to set the pace in the group, and have qualification for the next round wrapped up early, and not suffer fate of that time United played Wolfsburg needing a win to go through, but only to get knocked out. *shudders*

Comfortable win for us by at least 2.

    Pogba hamstring injury.

Pogba hamstring - if that's a bad one we could be without him for a while.

    Disasterous start.

Young really would be a great player to keep hold of until we get an upgrade for that right back position.

Young has shown more end product in that first half than Valencia has shown in god knows how long.

I hope he is taking notes on how to actually whip the ball in.

Love Young! Pity we seem to always have so many injuries every season...it's never Blind or someone we have lots of cover for.

    Mickey Ryan is on fire

Class act,so comfortable on the ball

I think Blind has done well tonight tbh.

I said it weeks before he signed that he would be class but Matic is arguably the best bit of business Utd have completed in years

Blind has been very good. I'm a fan of his. Also I think Fellaini is probably one of the most likely he will ever get rid off. Unfortunately for Bangkok.

Good result without having to chase result late into the game.

Light handshake practice tomorrow and on to Everton match.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,906 ✭✭✭✭PhlegmyMoses

Exactly as it should be. Players like Young, Blind and Fellaini having good games as it should be as well. Although they are not starters for us, they would be the best players in the Swiss league if they played there. Rotation should be a good option in this group unless we royally **** up.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,606 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

Fellaini man of the match. Bit shakey at the back but can't complain about a handy 3-0 win.

How are we looking for center back suspensions I think Jones is back next game and Bailey has one more to go?

Benfica lose at home to CSKA, good result there.
