    hi.
my first attempt at home brewing . I got a mangrove jack kit ( like this , but an ipa ) but when i'd finished making it I realised I'd no rubber bung for the lid.
I put the bubbler in and tried to seal it with duct tape.

10 days later and I've never seen a bubble.

Is it a total fiasco? Is there any point bottling it or should i just dump it and try again?

Check your gravity first before you do anything. No bubbles wouldn't necessarily mean no fermentation. Compare the gravity now against your OG.

Hell no, my first fermentor didn't ever bubble. Take a reading

I didn't check the gravity at the start. But it was 1 kg of sugar in 23lts of water.

I checked the gravity today and I think it's 1.004.

It's ready for bottling, give it another few days.

You're definitely good to go with that reading.

OK it's now been 14 days.
Is it better to order some sugar to prime (?) the bottles online and wait a couple more days,
Or can I use regular sugar and get it bottled asap?

And thanks for your help so far.

There's absolutely no need to rush, if you want to give it another week in the fermenter that would be no harm. But there's also no need to use fancy sugar for priming.

Use normal sugar. I'd batch prime if you have a siphon and bottling bucket

    Calculator here

    2.5 c02 is a nice number for IPA's
