Hi folks, as the title suggests I'm looking for a counsellor, within the general Limerick area, city or county, or in nearby areas of Clare/Tipp. Cost not an issue. Just someone who's good at listening.

    Thanks.

    What kind of counsellor?

Mymind on O'Connell Street and Oakwood out by UL are supposed to be good, I have no connection to either one but have just heard good feedback about them.

It might be a bit too far away for you OP, but I went to someone in Newcastle West a couple of years ago who I found very good.

That's a good question. Addiction counsellors, as the name suggests, specialise in helping those with drug, alcohol, gambling and other addictions. If the issue you wish to discuss is of a different nature a clinical psychologist may be better qualified to assist you. The Samaritans, also, whose entire ethos is based around the idea of simply listening and providing a sympathetic ear.

If I was living at home in West Limerick then NCW would be grand but living in city now, 35 mins probably too long of a commute. Thanks anyway.

Sorry to hear you're having a tough time of it at the minute Grenache - Get well soon, looks like you're well on track anyhow.....

    - Thanks also for causally announcing that you're seeking practical help in this area - It wasn't so long ago that there was a stupid levels of stigma attached which further weighed people down etc.

Thanks for the heads up folks.

I wish I could say mine is a recent thing but it's long term and I need to do something about it.
