Rest day over and we can get back to normality today with a nice easy stage and one for a breakaway to ease us back into it before some ascending fun and games later in the week.

Flat. Transition stage that will end with a climb up the Collado Bermejo. Favourable for breakaways, although the last climb may see a large group fighting for victory. That same mountain pass will result in the sprinters being less active.

I wouldn't be so sure it's an easy stage. There is more than enough terrain to make a difference in the last 40km. I agree, it's likely to be a breakaway stage, but I think there's a chance of GC action.

seems an online betting company were the sponsors who pulled out of the cannondale deal due to restrictions on gambling advertising in some countries.

I'd expect to Nibali attempt something on that long technical descent. Possibility of rain too so it could be very dicey

I'd like to see Orica support Chaves, especially the Yates brothers. On a good day its possible for Chaves to take a bit of time out of Froome on a climb like today and hold it on the descent. He needs to make up a few minutes as the TT will be his downfall.

This could be neutralised yet...loads of punctures already, including for roche and chaves

A break finally got away. No surprises De Marchi made the break! Terpstra might make it stick though

Sketchy looking descent with the damp/dry combination.

Great result for Nico. 3rd on same time as Chaves with 41 seconds back to Nibali and TJ.

I presume they separate Chaves and Roche by Stage placings when they are on equal time?

The time trials are measured to 100ths of a second.
That will give an advantage to one or other.

Probably another British conspiracy against Roche, they are still bitter that it took them 25 years, a jiffy bag and a TUE to win a Tour de France after a Roche won it
