Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi there
Ive been buying a coffee called Lazy Sunday by Taylors and I really like it.
I have a newly acquired aeropress and seemed ok to use.
But I would like to try some Badger and DoDo coffee and maybe go the grinder route, can anyone recommend a coffee that would be similar in taste to the lazy Sunday?

    Cheers

    Hi tylerdylan

That looks like a mild blend rather than one bean. I just bought my first bag from them and got their Guatema El Jade and it's a great medium for espresso. It was actually roasted the same day it was shipped out, so I'd be best off buying some to store and waiting around 10 days before opening them to get the very best out of them. Never tasted an Ethiopian bean yet (which I think is in your blend) but I gather it's a bit of an acquired taste. May be you could try their Biftu Gudina Ethiopian or their Summer Daze blend?
If you're going to grind yourself and buy beans then invest in a good grinder. Many will say that if you're going for a machine / grinder combo put half to a third of the overall cost into the grinder. I got the best of both with a great Sage Barista Express a few months ago and it's got a grand grinder in it.

Isn't that the craic with coffee.......I'm on a subscription (Bailies) and get different coffees every month from around the world. Different coffees different tastes every time, not wildly different.
If I'm stuck or running short between deliveries, going to work I'll pull in and get a block of Lavazza........all good :)

As long as you don't get the big takeaway "coffee" from the chain brigade :D
    Always woeful.

I tried the Lavazza Super Crema from Discount Coffee and I thought it was rough. It had been roasted a good many months before I got my hands on it but was nitrogen flushed packed. I remember I had a hard time getting a good extraction despite many grind setting tweaks and various tamp pressures and in the end it just tasted like rubber.
