Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Chain Lube

    Ok, so its that time for me.

    I got a few samples of Motul Lube and some WD40 Wax to keep me going til now.

    I have to buy more. So far I find the Motul (Factory and Road) flings up my back, the wax looks awful.

    What do you folks use?

    I'm looking at the Castrol chain lube, or should I try the WD40 lube? Or is the Motul stuff the best?

    I ride in all weathers, and only on a 600cc (Yamaha XJ6).

    OP ....have you not got a chain guard on the bike?

    Buy yourself a grease ninja and use the Motul.

    I used chain wax before but found that the amount of crud sticking to the chain was unreal.
    Gentle use of the Motul and regular chain cleaning is the way to go.

    Just the standard chain guard. I haven't seen longer ones. It seems like the license plate holder was stopping the spray before, but with the tail tidy it all gets flicked up.

    I'll look into that grease ninja, cheers.

    Even being gentle my jacket ended up with chain lube on it.

    chainsaw bar and chain lube is not bad.. will use it again.

    way more fling than wurth chainwax.. but the chain actually looks clean now compared to having stuck on grit with the chainwax...

    Anyone ever see or try the moto breeze chain oiler ? Wind powered don't know much else about it but sounds like a good idea

    Using a Scotoiler filled with chainsaw bar oil.
    Best of both worlds.
    (I'm a cheap git - ran out of scotoiler oil and had chainsaw bar oil in the shed so......)

    And my guess is no matter what oil you use, some of it will always be flung off, and wind up on your jacket unless you put something in between to block it.

    If you are getting oil flung off when using a Scottoiler you are using too much oil. Turn it down a bit.
