Recommend me a PC

Hi,

I friend is looking for advice on the purchase of a new laptop or desktop.
And as I haven't any gaming experience I was hoping somebody on here could
help out

The budget is would be around €500 (maybe a little higher if needed) so essentially the question is, would it be possible to get a PC in this price range in order for his family to have a reasonable experience playing games e.g. call of duty, heartstone, world of war craft, mine craft, and runescape?

What is the minimum we should be looking for in terms of graphics card, RAM and CPU

The computer would also be used for school work but I guess anything that
can play the games will also be fine with any school work.

For that price it would have to be a desktop i'd say. Someone will be along with more knowledge and advice.

Self building, absolutely - a Ryzen 1300 based system with a B350 motherboard, 8GB DDR4 ram, GTX1050 or 1050Ti could be built for 500-600 and would run all those games very well.

A pre-built gaming machine - something like this is pretty OK value but you would have to install Windows yourself (easy to do from USB).

Looks like a good option, I'm not against building it but like the idea of a prebuilt option better

Building is easy. Plenty of step by step tutorials on YouTube. Just take your time and you'll be fine.

The thing about a pre-built is that you're also paying for the cost of labour & the Windows license.
Together they can add €100+
At low budgets, this represents 15-20% of the build, so you're better off self-building.
