    I am just watching sky reporting from the Florida keys.

    Do they evacuate the reporters at a given time?

    He must be chasing, guerilla advertising.

    Irma seems to be about to turn North, Florida Keys in line. Just coming off Cuba.

    Hard to believe the sea is already splashing above the high tide line in FL. Doesn't bode well given how far away she still is.

    All news outlets going 24/7 now.

    The Weather Channel has good coverage and, as you would expect, a lot of knowledgable commentary. Live stream.

    Sea level rising already.

    Another hazard being discussed is the potential for tornadoes tomorrow night as if they don't already have enough to deal with.

    FM101200 36090G120KT 1/4SM +RA BKN002 BKN008 OVC010

    Wind forecast to be northerly, sustained 90 knots, gusting to 120 knots, from 1200GMT tomorrow.
    Visibility 1/4 statute mile, Heavy Rain, Broken cloud at 200 ft, 800 ft. Overcast at 1000 ft.

    I know this was a while back, but I just wanted to highlight how these are broken down a bit more clearly as Ads by Google seemed to want:
    FM101200 = From 10th at 1200 hours
    36090 = Wind from 360° True (ie. north) at 90 kts sustained
    G120KT = Gusting to 120 kts
    You can see how the rest of the TAF breaks down to what Gaoth said above in the remainder.

    Looking at the street in the 'two friends' cam on that compilation page like watching a bath filling. Very frightening.

    How fast is it moving currently, do you know?

    Definitely see this regaining Cat 4.

    Depending on how long it remains off the Florida coast before landfall we could be nearing Cat 5 territory again in short order.

    They said it had slowed to about 9mph.

    Will be interesting to see whether Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Meyers, Orlando etc airports keep issuing METARs during the hurricane, Varadero, Saint Martin (still not issuing any since the storm), San Juan etc all stopped issuing METARs just after the storm hit.

    If they do keep issuing we would be able to get exact gusts and sustained winds experienced there every half an hour/hour or so.

    I'd say those on the east coast will alright. Key West and Marathon will probably not survive though.

    I feel if it can reach category 4 status before the eye hits the keys then category 5 can't be ruled out for the mainland.

    Seems to be going through an ERC at the moment

    It's still about 150km away and those waves off Key West are noticeably stronger and bigger in the past 90 minutes.

    Guy earlier on the Weather Channel said nowhere on Key West was survivable. What are those people thinking?
