Been watching the coverage on CNN this evening. Feel so sorry for the presenters out in that awful weather, one guy near the water in Miami and he's struggling to stay standing.I'm shouting at the tv for him to get in out of it. FFS no job is worth that risk to life!

Ya fair enough they will always have someone out there reporting, but the guy in Miami seems to be the anchor for the coverage. Madness, he's under awful pressure.

Did you say you were going to miami bumper? Are you there now?

Flew around it. Back home well south of it though we had 18 hrs of 20-30 knot winds and the surf is up though in zero danger

Where exactly is the hurricane now. Has it passed Key West, has it made landfall on mainland yet ?

Stuck on a cruise ship just south of Cuba waiting to return to port in Miami since yesterday. Things could be a whole lot worse. :p

Blanket coverage on all the news channels. Lots of Florida natives on the ship worried sick that they'll have any home to go to. Cruise line has given free wifi and international calls to everyone till we port. It normally costs a bomb.

It's feckin roasting out here btw. :D

Looks like the eye is over that wxchasing link?

    Fairly calm

The presenter standing out on the balcony reporting from Naples FL has said a couple of times I've done this before [reporting on storms] I won't take risks, be a statistic etc. Even one of the people in the studio told him to take care.

Irma's full wind history. Looks like a giant anaconda swallowing Florida whole.

Looks like an increasing amount of energy on the storm's western side, but weakening on its eastern flank. To be expected I guess.

Takes 2 weeks to remove a crane apparently. That's what the tv said but I've no clue as I've never even hit a nail into a block of 2 x 4.

WX Chasing is driving now and a lot of debris and trees down on road and this isn't their first hurricane!

A gust of 209kmh is rather serious to be fair.

I've been impressed all weekend with how well their mics cut out most of the noise of the wind.
