Takes 2 weeks to remove a crane apparently. That's what the tv said but I've no clue as I've never even hit a nail into a block of 2 x 4.

Takes 2 seconds if your name is Irma

They could at least have started and had half or more down

If you're looking for really good local analysis of those in the direct path of the storm, check out Wink TV (I don't know how to link to their site). It's the SW Florida affiliate station for CBS and they have meteorologists that are just brilliant broadcasters in explaining the technical aspects in detail to the layman - which they kinda have to, I guess - as a local station, they seem to have a level of public service conscience as the audience is their community - I've just got home from a holiday in SW Florida and I was there for a Charley in 2004. The guys on Wink were superb on both occasions - a local station can give specifics that a national station cannot.

Looks storm force to me. Not that bad

64-72 mph? Probably a tad higher than that. I'm sure we will have readings in a while to verify

Yeah, remember that rain splashing down on them is lovely and warm! Tropical rain.

Neither of these guys has the short straw. Nobody is asking them to stand out in the storm and I have zero sympathy for them. My sympathy would go towards the people who have no choice but to be out in the storm; to those who will lose their homes, and possibly even their lives.

Was there much storm damage in the Florida Keys? Most news reports about Miami and Naples.

I should specify - the live feed isn't that impressive - it's just a less slick version of the CNN studio and field coverage. It's the WINK meteorologists that I think are brilliant - they have updates and reports on the hour that they then upload to the website that are definitely worth checking out.

Jeff Piotrowski's stream has been down for the last 20mins, he was in the north eye wall when it went down. Hope he's okay.
